About us

    Road safety.

    Action taken:

    Officers continue to prioritise road safety through targeted patrols and enforcement activity in response to concerns raised by residents. A speed enforcement operation was carried out on 4 September 2026 on Penshurst Road and the High Street in Leigh, resulting in several drivers receiving advice about their speed, one Traffic Offence Report (TOR) being issued for speeding and 1 vehicle being seized. The driver of the seized vehicle will be dealt with through the courts for driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with their licence.

    Road safety remains a key priority, and further speed enforcement activity is planned over the coming weeks and months. Officers will continue to carry out targeted patrols and enforcement operations to address concerns raised by the community, improve road safety and take action against those who put themselves and other road users at risk. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting road safety concerns, as information from the public helps officers identify problem locations and direct enforcement activity where it is needed most.

    Nuisance vehicles.

    Officers continue to monitor reports of nuisance vehicles within the ward and carry out patrols where concerns are raised. Reports of nuisance vehicle activity have remained low during this reporting period, which is encouraging and suggests that the issue is currently having a reduced impact on the local community. Officers will continue to gather information, respond to incidents and take action where appropriate to prevent problems from developing.

    As reports have remained low, this priority will now be reviewed to ensure it continues to reflect the concerns and needs of local residents. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting incidents and sharing information with Kent Police, as information from the community helps officers identify emerging issues, target resources effectively and take action where necessary.

    Action taken:

    Officers continue to carry out patrols in the area and respond to concerns raised by residents. Through ongoing engagement with the community, officers gather information, identify emerging issues and take action where necessary to prevent crime and antisocial behaviour.

    Although reports remain low, officers will continue to monitor the situation and maintain a visible presence within the community. This priority will be reviewed to ensure it continues to reflect the issues that matter most to local residents. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting concerns, as information from the community helps officers identify emerging problems, direct resources effectively and take appropriate action where needed.
