About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Antisocial behaviour - general.

    Issued 15 April 2026

    Action taken:

Over the last 3 months, officers have carried out regular patrols across Higham using a range of policing methods, including foot patrols, bicycle patrols and both marked and unmarked police vehicles.

Patrols have focused on areas identified through community reports and local intelligence, helping officers maintain a visible presence, deter antisocial behaviour and respond to concerns raised by residents. Officers have also used these opportunities to speak with local people, provide reassurance and gather information about issues affecting the community.

Information provided by residents continues to play an important role in directing patrol activity and identifying emerging concerns. Officers will continue to monitor reports, maintain a visible presence and take appropriate action where issues are identified.

  • Priority:

    Theft - shoplifting.

    Issued 15 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers have been working closely with local businesses in Higham to address concerns about shop theft and provide reassurance to staff.

Crime prevention advice has been shared with retailers, along with guidance on reporting offences and preserving evidence to support investigations. Regular patrols on foot, by bicycle and in police vehicles have also taken place in retail areas to provide a visible deterrent and increase opportunities to identify offenders.

Officers continue to work with store staff to share information about suspicious behaviour and repeat offenders. This partnership approach helps to prevent crime, support local businesses and maintain confidence in the local shopping area.

Patrols and engagement with retailers will continue to help reduce shop theft and keep local businesses safe.

  • Priority:

    Road safety.

    Issued 15 April 2026

    Action taken:

Road safety remains a priority within Higham ward. During the reporting period, officers carried out patrols on foot, by bicycle and in both marked and unmarked police vehicles to address concerns about speeding, driver behaviour and other road-related issues.

Speed enforcement activity took place at locations identified through community feedback and local intelligence, helping to deter offences and encourage safer driving. Officers also took part in dedicated road safety operations across the area, focusing on speeding and other traffic offences.

Where offences were identified, enforcement action was taken, including the issuing of Traffic Offence Reports. A Traffic Offence Report is a formal report used when a driver is suspected of committing a road traffic offence.

This proactive work helps improve driver behaviour, reduce risks to pedestrians and other road users, and make Higham’s roads safer for everyone.
