    Action taken:

    Officers have continued to carry out high-visibility patrols in the area to deter crime and respond to concerns raised by local residents. As part of this work, officers have conducted stop and searches of individuals and vehicles where there are legal grounds to do so. A stop and search is a police power that allows officers to search a person or vehicle for prohibited items or evidence of criminal activity.

    Encouragingly, reports of suspected drug dealing in the area have reduced. However, officers continue to rely on information from the community to help identify those involved and pinpoint locations where drug-related activity may be taking place. Information provided by residents helps officers gather evidence, target patrols effectively and take action against those responsible. Police will continue to focus on preventing drug-related crime, carrying out enforcement activity where appropriate and working with the community to help keep the area safe.

    Road safety.

    Action taken:

    A traffic operation was carried out across a number of locations in Folkestone, including the Harbour ward, to address concerns about speeding, dangerous driving and other offences under road traffic legislation. These operations help officers identify unsafe driving, enforce the law and improve road safety for all road users.

    During this activity, officers received information about a motorcycle causing concern in the harbour area. The motorcycle was quickly identified and located through police enquiries. Following further investigation, the vehicle was seized due to a number of offences that had been identified, and the rider was dealt with appropriately for those offences. Officers will continue to carry out traffic enforcement operations and respond proactively to reports from the community to help keep local roads and public spaces safe.

    Drink/drug driving.

    Action taken:

    Officers have been carrying out targeted patrols in and around the harbour area to identify and deal with drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Driving while impaired can significantly increase the risk of collisions and poses a danger to all road users.

    As part of this ongoing work, officers stop vehicles, carry out roadside checks where appropriate and take enforcement action when offences are identified. Particular attention is given to repeat offenders and locations where concerns have been raised by the community. These proactive patrols form part of wider efforts to improve road safety, prevent offending and protect residents, visitors and other road users. Officers will continue to carry out enforcement activity and respond to information provided by the public to help keep the area's roads safe.
