About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Off Road Bikes riding in an anti social manner.

    Action taken:

    Extra patrols,Reporting awareness of Off road bikes through crime-stoppers without leaving person details. Also working with the safer housing team at Durham council looking at Target Hardening in the way of Barriers to prevent access to certain areas known to be used by off road bikes. Off Road bike operation was conducted. Using the drone and Police partners. The operation was successful with 4 Bikes/Quads identified and the offenders. Looking at places where target hardening could be implemented. Monitoring is still in progress.

    Youths causing nuisance in the Park and Leisure center area on an evening. Broom Road. ASB and Criminal damage youths throwing stones at buses and residentional properties.

    Action taken:

    Extra patrols targeting the areas on an evening. Walkabouts with partner agencies to see if they can input to solving the issue. Patrols have been successful. Youths have been causing damage and Congregating at the back of the leisure center. Added to the patrol route. CCTV enquiries were made and targeted patrols have been initiated.

    Road Safety event in the planning. Police Speed watch also to be carried out on varied dates and times to raise awareness. Road Safety event cancelled due to weather. New date to be arranged.
