Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Residents of High Pittington and West Rainton have identified speeding vehicles and anti-social behaviour as key concerns affecting community safety and quality of life. Reports of excessive vehicle speeds, inconsiderate driving, and incidents of anti-social behaviour are causing concern for residents, particularly in residential areas, near schools, community facilities and routes regularly used by pedestrians and cyclists.

    Issued 01 October 2026

    Action taken:

Through the PACT process, Durham Constabulary, Durham County Council and local partners will work alongside the community to:

Identify locations most affected by speeding and anti-social behaviour.
Conduct targeted speed enforcement and high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot areas.
Gather intelligence and encourage residents to report incidents and concerns.
Work with partner agencies to address the underlying causes of anti-social behaviour.
Deliver engagement and education activities to promote safe and responsible behaviour.
Take appropriate enforcement action where offences are identified.
