About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Vehicles parking on the pavement, causing an obstruction around Toft Hill. Speeding in the Toft hill and Etherley area.

    Issued 11 February 2026

    Action taken:

    Regular patrols and walkabouts around the area.
    Meetings conducted with other agencies included traffic management and councils to consider other enforcement action or options available to alleviate the problem.

    White lines have been put down at a key junction these have shown a reduction however problems still arise.

    Community speedwatch has been set up and started strong with some warning letter's being sent out.

  • Priority:

    ASB, Criminal Damage and Drug related offences in the village of Evenwood. Unknown persons taking drugs and also distributing them within the village of Evenwood.
    Speeding along Oakes Bank

    Issued 12 February 2026

    Action taken:

    We will tackle this concern by: conducting high visibility mobile and foot patrols in the village.
    Encourage the community to report any suspicious activity directly to the police.
    Attend PACT meetings and liaise with the community.
    Officers are to organize speed watches to tackle speeding issue.
    Community speedwatch is a possibility and please attend PACT meetings if this is something you would like to volunteer for in the future.

    Hamsterley - Rural Crime:
    Vehicle thefts, suspicious activity, poaching

    Action taken:

    Patrols to be conducted - be visible in the area to deter those potential crimes.
    Look to conduct rural specific operations along with other policing teams to combat the overall issue.
    Build on existing intelligence to better understand patterns, those involved and specific areas this affects.
