About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Violence Against Women and Girls – Average population growth with disproportionate large number of students and young people, thriving evening and night time economy, small areas of deprivation.

    Action taken:

    ~ University Lead (PC Newton) continues to provide inputs to students covering drugs awareness, bystander awareness, consent issues and violence against women and girls.
    ~ Violence against women and girls / associated offences reviewed on a monthly basis.
    ~ Appropriate intelligence led deployments where required.
    ~ Increased focus on localised issues and offence series'.

  • Priority:

    Anti-Social-Behaviour – More recently focusing on the themes of street drinking, youth related anti-social behaviour and road related anti-social behaviour.

    Action taken:

    ~ Targeted patrols focusing on 'hotspot' areas highlighted by community reporting and data.
    ~ Continued communication / engagement with local schools to ensure key messaging to students and their families.
    ~ All anti-social behaviour logs / reports reviewed on a daily basis by the Sector Inspector to ensure appropriate crime recording and mitigation in place.
    ~ Significant series offenders reviewed by the Neighbourhood Team with a view to identifying longer term solutions.
