About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

1 – Cross-border Operations, focusing on Drugs and Theft of and Theft from Motor Vehicles.
    2 – Safer High Streets/Businesses
3 – Keeping our parks safe and minimising Anti-Social behaviour

    Issued 01 October 2026

    Action taken:

1 – Cross-border Operations Working closely with Colleagues from Nottingham and Leicestershire Police to share intelligence and coordinate activity against those involved in cross border crime. Use intelligence led policing and local knowledge to identify and address those causing the greatest harm to our communities. Strengthen information sharing with Partner agencies to identify emerging issues and prevent crime from moving between local areas. Respond to community concerns by focussing resources where they can have the greatest impact.
2 – Safer High Streets/Businesses We will conduct regular high-visibility and plain clothes patrols around our shopping precincts to deter crime and provide reassurance to residents, visitors and businesses. Engage regularly with local business, shoppers and the wider community to understand their concerns and identify areas requiring additional attention. Work with partners to make effective use of available civil power, including Community Protection Warnings and Notices, Public Spaces Protection Order, Criminal Behaviour Orders and Anti-Social Behaviour injunctions. Encourage business and members of the public to report incidents and provide information, helping us build a clearer picture of local issues.
3 – Keeping our parks safe and reducing Anti-Social behaviour Work closely with local schools and youth services to educate young people about the impact and consequences of ASB. We will also look to work with young people who feel threatened and unsafe when out in public, with the aim to make these places safer for them to visit Engage with local youths using the “Youth Voice Questionnaire” and deliver key messaging. We will provide advice and support through services such as safe and sound, Remedi and premier league kicks. Signpost young people towards positive and diversionary activities, helping to prevent them from becoming involved in crime or ASB. Conduct regular high-visibility and plain clothes patrols in our parks, engaging with members of the public and listening to their concerns. Take positive action against those involved in criminality or persistent ASB through enforcement, investigation and partnership work. Use problem solving approaches to address the underlying causes of repeat ASB and crime. Work with partner agencies, local authority and community groups to improve the safety and the overall environment within our parks.
