About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

1 – Over night neighbourhood acquisitive crime
2 – Youth related ASB –occurring in public spaces and the Town Centre.
    3 – Vehicle-related Anti-Social Behaviour.

    Issued 01 October 2026

    Action taken:

1 – Over night neighbourhood acquisitive crime Throughout the darker nights and winter months crime data indicates the likely increase in neighbourhood crimes, such as residential burglary and theft of or from motor vehicles. We intend to respond to community intelligence and focus patrols in hotspot areas. Officers will carry out community engagement events delivering crime prevention advice. They will use Derbyshire Alert and Social media to provide advice and messaging on security and target hardening.
2 – Youth related ASB –occurring in public spaces and the Town Centre. We will identify local hotspots for youth related ASB incidents, with focus on local business areas. We will work with young people who feel unsafe when visiting public spaces, to provide intervention and reassurance. The youth engagement team will continue their work through engagement and diversionary activities.
    • School engagement and inputs.
    • Working with partner agencies such as sporting communities and safe and sound to engage and divert young people.
    • Engage with local youths using the “Youth Voice Questionnaire” and deliver key messaging.
    • Utilising the safer knife replacement scheme when appropriate.
    • Hi-Visibility patrols in priority areas – identified hotspots or areas of concern.
    • Attend local events and provide safety advice and education.
3 – Vehicle-related Anti-Social Behaviour We will continue to proactively target motor vehicles who engage in anti-social behaviour and speeding offences. Pro-active work will include speed watch in key locations identified for speeding, and patrols where the use of off-road bikes are causing anti-social behaviour. The illegal use of electric bikes and e-scooters will also be targeted, including riders engaging in reckless behaviour. Inputs at local education premises by our Youth Engagement Team will ensure that young people are educated on the dangers of the illegal vehicles.
