Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    1) Shop thefts in Swadlincote town centre
    2) Drug use/distribution.
    3) Illegal and anti social vehicle use, including e bikes/e Scooters.

    Issued 01 April 2026

    Action taken:

For Shop Thefts in Swadlincote Town centre we will: Conduct plain clothes patrols to prevent and detect offending. Continue working with local businesses to prevent and detect crime through crime prevention measures and support services, including guidance on reporting procedures, security improvements and staff safety. Continue to investigate reported offences and take appropriate action to bring offenders to justice using all available powers. Share updates with the public and local businesses through online platforms, including Derbyshire Alert and social media, as well as direct engagement at community meetings and events. For Drug Use/Distribution we will: Conduct proactive patrols within the community, making appropriate use of powers such as stop and search to prevent and detect drug offences. Work with support charities where necessary to address drug use. Engage with the community to gather information and target activity in the right areas. Take positive action when offences are detected. For Illegal and Anti Social Vehicle Use (Including E bikes and E Scooters) we will: Conduct regular high visibility and plain clothes patrols in known hotspot areas. Gather feedback and share updates with the community. Promote road safety awareness through school visits and youth engagement sessions. Take proactive enforcement action against offences such as speeding and anti social driving. Work with Roads Policing Units for joint operations where necessary. Collaborate with local councils to identify infrastructure improvements (e.g. signage, traffic calming). Liaise with Highways and CCTV teams to support evidence gathering and deterrence. Share updates and crime prevention advice via Derbyshire Alert and social media. Publicise successful interventions to reassure the community and encourage reporting.
