Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Using a combination of your feedback and our own data, we have set the below priorities for your local neighbourhood policing team in Peterborough city centre for April to June 2026 are:

    • Disrupting repeat anti-social behaviour (ASB) offenders
    • Increasing our visibility within the retail sector
    • Targeting ASB on the Embankment.

    Issued 24 March 2026

    Action taken:

Disrupting repeat anti-social behaviour (ASB) offenders

Officers have completed more than 400 hours of dedicated patrols in the city centre as part of efforts to tackle this priority area.

Working with partners at Peterborough City Council, we have obtained two Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBO) for persistent ASB offenders. By the end of the quarter, neither individual has breached the order. This has significantly reduced demand.

A Closure Order has also been granted at Henry Court, relating to anti-social behaviour being committed in the area.

Officers have also issued 15 Community Protection Warnings for ASB in the city centre and several other CBOs are due to be heard at court.

Increasing our visibility within the retail sector

The introduction of a dedicated retail crime officer (PC Jenkins) has seen a significant improvement in visibility within the retail community. This has resulted in an increase in crime reports and detections due to the enhanced level of engagement with businesses. So much so, that Cambridgeshire is now in the top five forces in the country for detections for theft from a shop offences.

We continue to work alongside the BID and Queensgate Shopping Centre to combat retail crime.

Targeting anti-social behaviour (ASB) on the Embankment

Increased patrols at the location have been ongoing with multiple people dispersed due to their behaviour. We continue partnership work with local businesses, including the Key Theatre, to help reduce ASB in the area.

Collaborative patrols with Peterborough City Council enforcement officers also continue, with the issuing of Community Protection Warnings to those causing ASB.

Other work has included liaising with the homeless outreach team regarding ASB and engaging with the boating community and local businesses/venues to improve understanding of any issues and build intelligence.

Several arrests have also been made in relation to theft, violence and robbery in the area.

    Actioned 15 July 2026

  • Priority:

Using a combination of your feedback and our own data, we have set the below priorities for your local neighbourhood policing team in Peterborough city centre for July to September 2026 are:

    - Targeting anti-social behaviour on the Embankment and in Rivergate
    - Protecting people in public spaces in the City Centre
