Wincanton rural neighbourhood team have identified an increase of anti-social behaviour at the derelict site of Bruton School for Girls, Sunny Hill. This site is extremely dangerous due to the criminal damage that has been caused at this location. The property is also a health risk due to the amount of time it has been left without maintenance.

Proactive patrols are done across different times of the day including late shifts. We encourage people to keep reporting this and if there is any photographs or video evidence of the individuals this would help with our investigations.

We are working closely with ownership groups to make sure we are reducing the crime in this area.

    Car Thefts

Wincanton Neighbourhood Team are seeing an increase in vehicle thefts across East Somerset, with some offenders using a method known as "relay theft." Relay theft allows criminals to unlock and steal cars by intercepting the signal from keyless entry fobs often without owners realising until it’s too late.

There are steps of which we recommend protecting your vehicles.

If there are any intelligence or enquiries about these issues, please get in touch with the local team who can assist you. Patrols will continue to areas which we have identified as being targeted with positive action such as arrests to be made.
