About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Update on Road Safety and Anti-Social Driving in Cheddar
We are writing to provide you with an update on the ongoing work to tackle vehicular anti-social behaviour (ASB) and improve road safety in Cheddar.
A lot has happened since our last update. For that reason, we have decided not to publish the second edition of the Cheddar Neighbourhood Police Team (NPT) newsletter currently. In favour of this community update adopting a more formal structure.
Future editions of the newsletter will be published over the coming months and will continue to provide valuable updates to the community.
Clink on the link below for a detailed update on the work we have been doing, including updates from the stakeholder partnership working group.

  • Priority:

Community SpeedWatch (CSW) is a traffic monitoring initiative that enables local residents to help educate road users about the impact of speed on their neighbourhoods.

The aim of CSW is to make motorists who speed through residential neighbourhoods aware of the impact their actions have on local residents, or the danger they pose to other road users and pedestrians. This is something we are working with communities to address.

    Join CSW

To find out if there is a CSW Scheme in your area, or request to set one up visit Community SpeedWatch on our website.

    Issued 27 November 2025

    Action taken:

We are looking for volunteers to set up a new Community Speed Watch team in Wedmore. If you are interested please get in touch via the contact your local team page.
