About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

? How to Spot Drug Activity

You can help by being aware of the signs. Common indicators include:

    • Frequent visitors to a property at all hours, often staying only briefly
    • Strong smells (e.g. cannabis) coming from a property or vehicle
    • Blacked-out windows, or curtains always closed
    • Excessive security measures (e.g. cameras, reinforced doors)
    • Discarded drug paraphernalia such as small bags, foil, syringes
    • Anti-social behaviour linked to a specific location
    • Sudden changes in a neighbour’s behaviour or lifestyle

? Poor Parking Around Schools – Horfield Area?

We’ve seen an increase in poor and inconsiderate parking in and around the Horfield area, particularly near local schools.

?‍♂️ Neighbourhood officers have responded by:

    • Issuing Traffic Offence Reports to offending vehicles
    • Conducting patrols during peak school times

? Poor parking near schools can force children and young people to walk in the road, putting them at serious risk.? How to Report

If you witness dangerous or obstructive parking:

    • Call 101
    • Report online via Avon and Somerset Police- Report | Avon and Somerset Police
    • Report people parking on yellow zigzags and lines to Bristol City Council Parking services- Contact Parking Services
    ✅ Safe School Parking Tips

Help keep children safe by following these guidelines:

    • Park legally and responsibly— avoid zig-zag lines, dropped kerbs, and school entrances
    • Do not block pavements— leave space for pushchairs and wheelchairs
    • Use designated parking areas or park a short distance away and walk
    • Avoid stopping in the road to drop off children — it causes congestion and danger
    • Be mindful of crossing points and visibility for other road users
    • Respect residents’ driveways and access
    • Allow extra time during busy school runs to avoid rushing
    • Encourage walking, cycling, or car sharing where possible

Let’s work together to keep our roads safe for everyone, especially our children.
