Stephen has spent most of his career as a detective, undertaking senior roles across local policing and specialist crime, including a number of years as a Senior Investigating Officer with the Met’s Specialist Crime Homicide Command. In that time he led numerous murder investigations to successful conclusion.
As a Detective Superintendent, he has worked in challenging local policing roles, along with later managing both reactive and covert teams across London, tackling serious criminality relating to gang and gun crime with the Trident Gang Command.
As a Chief Superintendent and lead for the East Area Basic Command Unit (BCU), he was responsible for delivering local policing services across Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge boroughs in the east of London.
Following completion of the Strategic Command Course in 2021, he later became a Commander and Chief Officer, and currently oversees Central Specialist Crime in the Met. This includes units tackling serious & organised crime relating to online child sex abuse, cybercrime, fraud & illicit finance, modern slavery & exploitation, complex investigations, cold case homicide and the Met’s Flying Squad.
He is also the current National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) lead for tackling Knife Enabled Crime, working closely with law enforcement and partners across England & Wales, along with the Home Office.
Mick is a highly experienced Senior Investigating Officer.
He has worked in policing for over 30 years.
Mick has been an investigative lead in Major Crime Investigation, specialising in homicide for the last 20 years.
Tony has an extensive background in investigating serious and major crime. He served for 31 years as a career detective in GMP retiring as a Detective Superintendent in the Major Incident Team and joined the National Crime Agency.
He has since held a number of mainstream roles including National SIO Advisor within major Crime Investigation Support and more recently Head of Child Sexual Abuse Operations.
He is a long standing, fully accredited and highly experienced PIP3 SIO and PIP4 strategic advisor and published Blackstone’s author of manuals and handbooks on investigating major crime. He was awarded an OBE for services to law enforcement in 2023.
