About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Shoplifting

    Issued 17 September 2026

    Action taken:

Work with local retailers and businesses to reduce shoplifting, support crime prevention initiatives, and take positive action against repeat offenders to help keep our shopping areas safe and welcoming.

    Actioned 17 September 2026

  • Priority:

    Rural Crime

    Issued 17 September 2026

    Action taken:

Protect our rural communities by preventing and disrupting rural crime, supporting farmers and landowners, and encouraging the reporting of suspicious activity to help safeguard the countryside.

    Actioned 17 September 2026

  • Priority:

    Dwelling and Non-Dwelling Burglaries

    Issued 17 September 2026

    Action taken:

Burglary prevention remains a key priority across the area. We are committed to reducing offences, increasing patrol visibility, and supporting residents in keeping their homes, farms, and businesses secure.
    Our focus includes:
Targeted high visibility patrols in areas affected by recent reports.
Rural crime prevention advice, including security assessments for isolated properties, farms, and outbuildings.
Proactive investigations to identify offenders travelling into our area and disrupt organised criminal groups targeting rural properties.
We encourage residents to report anything unusual at the earliest opportunity and to make use of crime prevention measures such as good-quality locks, lighting, CCTV, and secure storage for tools and machinery.

    Actioned 17 September 2026

  • Priority:

    Road Safety

    Issued 17 September 2026

    Action taken:

Conduct high-visibility road safety patrols in both rural and urban locations.
Target the "Fatal Five" causes of serious collisions: speeding, drink driving, drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt, using a mobile phone while driving, and careless driving.
Work alongside specialist Roads Policing officers to carry out enforcement operations and targeted campaigns.
Conduct speed enforcement and community speed watch activity where appropriate.
Engage with local communities to understand road safety concerns and identify hotspot locations.
Deliver road safety education and awareness activity to encourage responsible driving behaviour.
Take positive action against offenders who place themselves and others at risk on our roads.

    Actioned 17 September 2026
