About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Tong Ward Area

    • Tackle nuisance motorcycles, anti-social vehicle use, speeding and inconsiderate parking, particularly in residential areas and around schools. Activity will focus on identifying and dealing with abandoned, uninsured and untaxed vehicles to improve road safety and reduce vehicle-related anti-social behaviour.

     

    • Increase high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot areas, including Holmewood, Broadstone Way, both shopping parades, Tyersal Lane and locations surrounding derelict buildings. These patrols aim to deter anti-social behaviour, disrupt criminal activity and address concerns relating to drug misuse and dealing.

     

    • Work closely with residents and partner agencies to gather intelligence, disrupt criminality and support enforcement activity targeting drug cultivation, supply and organised drug-related crime within the ward.

     

    • Provide reassurance to local communities through regular engagement opportunities, visible neighbourhood policing and proactive responses to concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour.

    Action taken:

    • Bradford South officers continue to work alongside the Council's Vehicle Enforcement Team on joint operations targeting nuisance vehicles and those being driven, parked or used unlawfully across the ward.
       
    • Neighbourhood Policing Team officers carry out regular high-visibility and targeted patrols in Holmewood and surrounding areas. A weekly community contact point at the local community café also provides residents with an opportunity to speak with their local PCSOs, discuss concerns and receive crime prevention advice.
       
    • Information relating to drug dealing and cannabis cultivation continues to be developed and acted upon. Officers are carrying out ongoing enforcement activity aimed at disrupting criminal networks, safeguarding vulnerable people and protecting local communities from the harm associated with drug-related crime.

  • Priority:

    Queensbury Ward Area

    • Disrupt the supply and distribution of controlled drugs within the ward through intelligence-
       

    • Work in partnership with local schools, community groups and partner agencies to tackle anti-social behaviour and improve parking issues around Home Farm Primary School, Shibden Head Primary School and Foxhill Primary School.
        

    • Reduce burglary and theft from motor vehicles by conducting targeted patrols, delivering crime prevention advice and pursuing offenders through positive enforcement action.
       

    • Tackle the illegal and nuisance use of off-road bikes and quad bikes through dedicated operations, partnership working and joint activity with Operation Steerside.

    • Neighbourhood officers continue to gather and develop intelligence relating to the supply of controlled drugs. Proactive operations and warrant activity are regularly undertaken to target those involved in drug dealing and cannabis cultivation.
       

    • Officers maintain close working relationships with local schools, residents and partner agencies to address concerns around anti-social behaviour and irresponsible parking. High-visibility patrols and reassurance visits continue across identified locations.
       

    • Regular patrols are taking place within Russell Hall Park and surrounding hotspot areas in response to reports of anti-social behaviour. Officers are also working alongside the Early Action Team to engage with young people and promote positive behaviour.

       

    • Joint operations with Operation Steerside remain ongoing to identify, disrupt and take action against those using off-road bikes illegally or causing nuisance within the community. Intelligence-led patrols and enforcement activity continue across the ward.

    Royds Ward Area

    • Reduce anti-social vehicle use, including nuisance off-road quads and motorbikes. This will be achieved through targeted enforcement using specialist police units, joint working with partner agencies, proactive action against offenders using police and local authority powers and legislation, Operation Steerside deployments, community intelligence gathering, leaflet drops, and the seizure of vehicles involved in illegal or anti-social activity.

     

    • Address speeding concerns across the ward through partnership-led road safety  campaigns, Community Speed Watch initiatives, police monitoring, and appropriate enforcement action.

    • Nuisance vehicles – Operation Steerside officers continue to provide an increased presence in the area, supporting local NPT officers in tackling reports of anti-social vehicular usage and nuisance off road bikes.
       
    • Royd ward (speeding) – Speed watch operations continue to be carried out at several locations across the ward, where residents have highlighted speeding vehicles as a concern.

    Wyke Ward Area

    • Tackle anti-social vehicle use, nuisance off-road bikes and quad bikes, and speeding concerns across the ward. This will be achieved through the use of specialist police resources, partnership working, proactive enforcement using police and local authority powers, Operation Steerside activity, intelligence gathering, community engagement and the seizure of vehicles being used unlawfully.

     

    • Address speeding concerns on key routes, including Huddersfield Road and Cleckheaton Road, through targeted enforcement, speed monitoring and road safety initiatives.

     

    • Reduce anti-social behaviour across the ward through crime prevention measures, increased high-visibility patrols and close partnership working with local agencies and community groups.

    • Operation Steerside officers have continued to provide a visible presence across the ward, supporting local Neighbourhood Policing Team officers in addressing reports of anti-social vehicle use, nuisance off-road bikes and quad bikes. In response to concerns raised by residents, Bradford South NPT has also carried out regular joint traffic enforcement operations alongside Council Parking Wardens. Community Speed Watch initiatives continue to take place at various locations where speeding has been identified as a priority by local residents
       

     

    • Incidents of anti-social behaviour involving local youths continue to be addressed through early intervention and partnership working. Young people identified as being involved in anti-social behaviour are referred to the Anti-Social Behaviour and Early Action Team to provide support, guidance and measures aimed at preventing further offending.

    • Tackle anti-social vehicle use, including nuisance off-road bikes and quad bikes, by working alongside specialist police units and partner agencies. Activity will include targeted operations, intelligence gathering, community engagement, enforcement action and the seizure of vehicles where appropriate using police and local authority powers.
    • Address parking and obstruction issues within Wibsey village through increased patrols, joint working with traffic enforcement officers and targeted enforcement operations in areas of concern.
       
    • Reduce speeding across the ward through partnership-led road safety campaigns, Community Speed Watch initiatives, police monitoring and enforcement action where necessary.
       
    • Provide reassurance to residents through high-visibility patrols and proactive engagement, responding to concerns relating to crime and anti-social behaviour within the community.

    • Community Speed Watch operations continue to be carried out at various locations across the ward following concerns raised by residents about speeding vehicles. These activities help educate drivers and support enforcement activity where appropriate..
       
    • Officers and PCSOs continue to carry out regular patrols across the ward, engaging with residents, addressing local concerns and taking positive action to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

    Great Horton Ward Priorities

    • Reduce anti-social behaviour, nuisance and begging at key locations across the ward, including the Tesco Superstore on Great Horton Road.

    • Tackle the possession and misuse of Nitrous Oxide throughout the ward    through proactive patrols, engagement and enforcement activity.

    • Address speeding and the anti-social use of vehicles through Community Speed Watch initiatives, targeted traffic operations and enforcement activity.

    • Work alongside partner agencies to resolve parking and highway-related issues in the Brackenbeck Road and Spencer Road areas

    • Improve parking standards across the ward by tackling obstructive and inconsiderate parking through increased patrols, joint working with enforcement partners and appropriate enforcement action.

    Action Taken

    • Officers have carried out a number of targeted operations across the ward, resulting in several arrests for offences including vagrancy. Anti-social behaviour warning        letters have also been issued to young people identified as being involved in incidents at the Tesco Superstore.

    • Proactive patrols and dedicated operations continue within identified hotspot locations to address concerns relating to the possession and misuse of Nitrous Oxide.   Positive action is taken where offences are identified.

    • Community Speed Watch deployments and traffic enforcement operations are regularly conducted across the ward, with officers targeting motorists committing speeding and other traffic offences

    • Officers continue to work closely with partner agencies to address parking and highway concerns. Joint Days of Action have resulted in the seizure of uninsured and untaxed vehicles, as well as enforcement against vehicles causing obstruction within the community.

    • High-visibility patrols remain in place across neighbourhoods affected by parking issues, helping to deter offending, reassure residents and support ongoing enforcement activity.
