Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Birstall, Birkenshaw & East Bierley

    • Officers will continue to carry out high-visibility patrols across Birstall, Birkenshaw and East Bierley ward to address community concerns around anti-social behaviour (ASB) on the Fieldhead Estate and at Junction 27 Retail Park. Officers will tackle reports of nuisance motorbikes in and around Birstall and prevent Theft from Motor Vehicles through dedicated patrols along key routes at times when offences are most likely to occur. The patrols aim to deter criminality, reassure residents and provide opportunities for officers to engage with the local community.

    Issued 01 October 2026

    Action taken:

    • We will conduct high-visibility foot and mobile patrols on Fieldhead Estate and Junction 27 Retail Park during identified peak times for ASB.
    • We will carry out targeted patrols and proactive engagement in Birstall, including Oakwell Hall Country Park to deter nuisance motorbike use, identify offenders and gather intelligence from residents and park users.
    • Engage with local business, residents and community groups to promote crime prevention advice, encourage reporting and identify emerging concerns.
    • Use intelligence led policing and partnership working to identify repeat offenders, support enforcement activity where appropriate and review patrol deployments based on community feedback and reported incidents.
