About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Begging, Anti-Social Behaviour and Drug Use on Northfield High Street.

    Action taken:

    Officers are continuing to carry out regular patrols on the High Street and taken appropriate action against those involved in shop theft, begging and ASB. A number of key arrests have been made and persons charged with multiple offences to appear before court. A number of long term measures are being considered within the wider partnership as part of Operation Wayfarer. Officers continue to work closely with the BID, local businesses and the community. If you have any local concerns please get in touch and our team will follow this up at the earliest opportunity. A number of local community meetings have been set for the coming months ( see website under events ).

    A number of reports of speeding concerns and poor driving. This includes the use of off road bikes.

    Action taken:

    Officers regularly conduct multi agency road safety operations on Northfield Constituency. Speed enforcement units are also deployed to set locations on the ward. Our local PCSOs are trained in delivering Community Speedwatch and are keen for volunteers to come forward to deliver a local speedwatch. This scheme has many benefits in bringing the community together and supporting the community in making the roads safer. If you are interested please drop us a line on 101 or contact you local team/PCSOs. Operation Snap is also available via WMP Website to send in footage of any poor driving and will be assessed for any further action to be taken.

    A high number of vehicle crimes.

    Action taken:

    The local dedicated neighbourhood officers will be paying attention and conducting patrols in key locations. Officers will be working closely with partners to identify those involved and prevent further offending. A number of arrests have been carried out linked to vehicle crime on the Weoley Ward area. There is a lot of crime prevention vehicle crime advice available on the WMP website - consider using steering locks even if only popping into a shop or visiting a friend for a short time. Please ensure you remove all property of value from vehicles. If you have any information of who may be involved please inform us via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Your local PCSOs are available if you would like any further advice.
