About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Antisocial use of Off Road Bikes

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

Off Road Bikes - a continuing and known problem. Operation Moment is the local response to this issues and we continue to work with local partners to address this issue.

The local teams are working with partners to tackle antisocial nuisance bike behaviour across the borough through the installation of permanent deterrents. Sandwell council is also monitoring this, and with the increased use of these inhibitors, the use of these bikes is decreasing. Please continue to contact us and the council with any reports of off-road bikes being used.

A number of off road bikes were seized during Operation Advance in Sandwell on 16th September, and an off road bike was spotted and seized by PCSOs on 21st September.

Please continue to report any concerns to the police and to Sandwell Council.

  • Priority:

    Retail Crime

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

Business / Retail Crime - we encourage our business community to report offences as and when they occur. We are focusing on ensuring those responsible for this type of offending are dealt with efficiently and effectively.

There have been 180 positive outcomes since the start of January in relation to shoplifting offences in Wednesbury which is 142% increase over the same period last year.

Officers are now undertaking plain clothes patrols and Wednesbury town has recently introduced a town link radio system allowing shop owners to communicate regarding shoplifters in the area.

We are actively pursuing shoplifters in Wednesbury and with the aid of the new townlink system, have arrested a number of prolific offenders. Good quality CCTV footage gives us a better chance of securing convictions at court and putting offenders behind bars. Please continue to raise your concerns to police.

In response to the issues raised the team have and will continue to conduct patrols at the above locations at the relevant / identified times.

The team will also continue to conduct weekly patrols with to target reports of ASB and street drinking and will work with the council to disrupt the behaviour but also offer appropriate support to vulnerable people in the area.

As always I will encourage local members of our community to report any issues or concerns via 101, web chat or 999 in an emergency.
