About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Business Crime – driving down retail crime in Walsall town centre and bringing offenders to justice.

    Action taken:

    We are working hard together to tackle shoplifting and business crime especially in Walsall Town Centre. Our Neighbourhood Officers regularly work alongside businesses and Trading Standards to support business crime prevention. A new Anti Social Behaviour team has been established and is a visible deterrent in the Town Centre

    Reducing Serious Youth Violence - Taking a firm stance on reducing violence involving young people in and around Walsall Town Centre.

    Action taken:

    We continue to be proactive and visible in our efforts to tackle serious youth violence in and around the town centre.

    The team are regularly carrying out operations in the town centre to identify anyone carrying weapons and a knife arch has been deployed on two occasions assist with this.

    We recently arrested and charged a man with possessing a knife in a public place in Walsall.

    Educating young people on the dangers of carrying a knife is also one of our priorities and we have good relationships with local educational sites where we visit and speak to young people about staying safe.

    Tackling alcohol and begging related ASB in and around Walsall Town Centre. Residents have concerns when they visit the Town Centre about the behaviour of a few individuals.

    Action taken:

    An ASB team has been established to tackle this issue.
    Our officers, along with the support of other policing colleagues and Walsall Council Safety Officers continue to carry out daily patrols in and around the town centre targeting public place related anti-social behaviour and the people intent on committing crime.

    Concerns raised regarding vehicles speeding on: Highgate Road, Princess Avenue and Lincoln Road

    Update 02/06/25
    Police continue to monitor these areas for speeding vehicles.

    Update 15/05/25
    Officers have conducted a community speed watch operation at:
    Lichfield Street - 100 vehicles were checked and 6 will registered keepers will be sent warning letters. The highest speed recorded was 37mph.

    Princes Avenue & Lincoln Road - 20 cars were checked and 2 will be sent warning letters The highest recorded being 26mph.
