About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Ongoing ASB taking place within Sparkhill Park late in the evening and into the early hours of the morning.

    Issued 22 May 2025

    Action taken:

Targeted patrols by the local neighbourhood team, street watch and joint working with partner agencies to divert people away from this behaviour.

We have recently had intelligence that ASB has began to increase given the warmer weather. We have increased our patrols and are liaising with our partners to tackle this issue.

    Actioned 22 May 2025

  • Priority:

There is a long standing issue of dangerous parking along roads within Sparkhill. Knowle Road and surrounding roads have been highlighted by local residents via calls to the police, concerns raised during local drop-in sessions and through the local council.

We have held a poll on twitter where Parking was highlighted as the priority for the month of March.

    Issued 22 May 2025

    Action taken:

Officers have regularly been targeting these roads at different times during the day to issue tickets for obstruction offences. Officers have established weekly joint parking operations with the local council to target all types of parking issues. Feedback has been provided to the local council along with residents.

    Actioned 22 May 2025

  • Priority:

People are congregating on Bankside and engaging in anti-social behaviour which includes drug use.

    Issued 22 May 2025

    Action taken:

Regular patrols being conducted by the local neighbourhood team on evenings and into the night. A number of people have been stopped and officers have engaged with them to help them understand the issues being caused.

    Actioned 22 May 2025

  • Priority:

Residents have highlighted anti-social behaviour taking place on Grove Road and Nansen Road. This includes parking which is dangerous to other road users including pedestrians.

    Issued 22 May 2025

    Action taken:

We have took part in a local residents meeting where we were able to hear the concerns of residents.

We are working closely with Birmingham City Council in relation to the ASB taking place which includes joint enforcement visits.

We have included Grove Road/Nansen Road in our joint parking patrols with Traffic Wardens.

Numerous cars have been ticketed in recent weeks with posts updated on X (formerly Twitter)

    Actioned 22 May 2025

  • Priority:

We have seen an increase in nitrous oxide canisters being littered in the community and an increase in their illegal use.

    Issued 22 May 2025

    Action taken:

We are working closely with trading standards regarding the sale of this substance and have completed a number of joint visits in recent weeks. We will continue to prosecute businesses found to be selling these products illegally.

We are engaging with individuals who are found using these substances illegally and dealing with them appropriately by means of prosecution and education courses.

    Actioned 22 May 2025

  • Priority:

The community inform us they want updates of the work taking place by the local neighbourhood team to combat local issues.

    Issued 22 May 2025

    Action taken:

We release regular updates via our WMNOW messaging system.

We produce a monthly newsletter which is provided to our key partners to help publicise the work taking place.

We ensure we regularly post updates on X (formerly Twitter).

We are committed to regular drop-in sessions with local officers.
