About us

    Sheldon NPT has been made aware of parking issues linked to nearby Sheldon Country Park and Birmingham International Airport. Intel also suggests various social media posts are attracting people to the location, advertising views of the airport etc. The issue of inconsiderate parking is more prevalent at the weekend.

    Action taken:

    -Sheldon officer have conducted high visibility foot patrols when able to do so. Latest patrol 20/06/2026 - busy, but all vehicles legally parked.

    -Looking to work with partners at Birmingham City Council Civil Enforcement.

    -Promote the use of Operation Snap for some moving traffic offences and parking offences.

    -Utilising Streetwatch patrols to engage with / educate road users at fault.

  • Priority:

    Reflecting the national trend, Sheldon Retail Park has experienced a significant amount of retail crime in the first half of 2026, the majority committed by by a small number of repeat offenders. In addition to this, retailers and members of the public have complained about a small number of rough sleepers / aggressive beggars who are intimidating staff and shoppers.

    Action taken:

    -Regular patrols of Sheldon Retail Park, with officers assigned specific retailers to develop strong working relationships and continuity moving forward.

    -Of the 4 vulnerable persons loitering in car park area, 1 has been housed, 2 are receiving help with housing and substance misuse and 1 has not been seen for some time.

    -Improved investigation process via dedicated Retail Crime Team for Birmingham East.

    -Recent Multi Agency Road Safety Operation (MARSO) on Tesco A45 Car Park, high visibility deterrent, preventing any retail crime and promoting road safety.

  • Priority:

    Sheldon NPT have received reports off Anti-Social Behaviour involving off road motorbikes in and around the Comberton Road, Chestnuts Avenue and Manston Road. This behaviour is linked to a small number of local shops and addresses.

    Action taken:

    -Sheldon NPT officers have hosted a meeting with local Councillor and representatives from local housing providers to discuss anti-social behaviour and problem addresses in the area. Canvassing of addresses for evidence, intelligence and information to follow.

    -Enforcement for traffic offences where able to do so.

    -Promote the use of Operation Snap for low level moving traffic offences.

    -20/06/2026 Colleagues from Response and the Special Constabulary incepted a small group pushing a stolen motorbike along Comberton Road. Unfortunately the group made off but the motorbike was recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
