About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    ASB, Drug Use & Begging outside Morrisons, Wallows Lane.

    Action taken:

    The team have been working with store staff and management, liaising with other agencies, like the homeless team at Walsall Council and ASB team within our Partnerships team. As a result of this work, Community Protection Notices have been Issued and Arrests made.
    Officers have conducted regular patrols and visited with
    Walsall Homeless Teams to offer support.
    The action taken has resulted in arrests being made, a reduction in calls to the Police and fewer homeless people causing issues. This continues in the new year 2025
    February 2025 update - The incidents of homeless people causing issues at Morrisons has remained low level. Patrols continue and support offered to any new homeless people that visit the location.
    March 2025 Update - The issue of homeless people causing issues to customers and staff at Morrisons, is at a level now where only 2-3 people periodically visit the location. The issue is manageable for both the local Police team and store management
    April 2025 update - Just one or two homeless people are now visiting the store, store security are liaising with the neighbourhood team to manage the situation
    May 2025 Update - The incidents of ASB relating to beggars causing issues at Morrisons, Wallows Lane has reduced markedly. New store management are better controlling the situation along with regular patrols by the Pleck neighbourhood team.

    ASB in and around Merton Way, Pleck

    People that are Homeless and drug dependent are sleeping in communal areas and stair wells of private properties. This is causing anti social behaviour to residents and visitors. The ASB involves Drug usage and drug dealing.

    Action taken:

    The team have been conducting regular patrols in and around Merton Way,
    Visited residents to understand the issues and offer reassure with our patrols. The team have also liaised with the housing company, who have taken action and made repairs to doors and other access points.
    In addition, Community meetings have been held to find out the extent of the issues and to find shared solutions.

    The actions taken, have helped reduce the incidents and calls to the Police. Housing have improved access security which has markedly reduced the incidents of homeless people gaining access into the communal areas of the property.

    *Update* We are pleased to report, that there have been no new reports or complaints regarding Anti-Social Behaviour. The property remains secure and patrols have not encountered any homeless people or drug users at the location.

    Unfortunately, the issues have returned, where drug users and homeless people are gaining access to, this time to a different part of the complex. We are conducting regular patrols, liaising with residents and site management company.
    February 2025 update - Incidents of homeless people gaining access of the communal areas has reduced. Patrols have found that all the affected entrance doors and bin areas are now secure. We continue to work with the site management company to maintain secure access.
    March 2025 Update. The issue of homeless people gaining access to communal areas of Merton Way continues but the numbers and frequency of incidents has reduced. We continue to conduct regular patrols and work with both the site managers and homeless support services.
    April 2025 Update - The issues of homeless people gaining access to to communal areas continues. Though this has moved to a new but connected location.
    Patrols are being conducted and any offenders moved on or offered support to the local homeless team. The main issue is insecure main doors which the site management will be checking.
    May 2025 Update - Repairs to main communal entrance doors is still in progress, allowing the occasional homeless person to gain access. The incidents of ASB and people gaining access has reduced over the past month.

    Spring and Summer period related crime & ASB.
    Prevention of burglaries which historically increase as the days get warmer.

    Action taken:

    Spring and Summer Crime Prevention - Reminding the public that the warmer nights are here, and its time to be extra vigilant when leaving your property unoccupied.
    Vehicle Security - When parking in public car parks, consider using a secure location with CCTV and good lighting. Make sure the car windows are closed during the warm weather, when leaving the car.
    Home Security - Before leaving you home, even for a short time, ensure all doors and windows are securely locked.
    Personal Safety - Stick to well-lit areas, especially when walking alone at night. Tell someone when you will be home and keep a list of emergency contacts to hand.
    March 2025 update - If you have issues you would like to make us aware of, we have a Police surgery every month at Pleck Library and there will be PACT community meetings, where Police and partner agencies will be in attendance.
    April 2025 update - Police surgery 26/05/2025
    May 2025 update - ASB location at a bus stop on Wolverhampton Road, Birchills, causing issues for residents. A joint action plan, with Pleck Police Team, Walsall Council and local schools is in place to reduce ASB in this area.

  • Priority:

    Drug dealing and drug use taking place in Ford Street, Pleck. Activity is in the street and car park close to the Apna Ghar home for elderly residents.The ASB is affecting elderly residents and visiting relatives.

    Action taken:

    In addition to regular patrols at the location, resident meetings have been held with tenants and the housing landlord. No loitering signs have been placed in the area to support the patrols.
    Partnership work with Walsall Council to monitor the ASB and consider installation of CCTV in the area.
    Repairs to access points have been instigated. Efforts are being made to safeguard vulnerable residents.
    Security guards are now in place to offer further reassurance to residents.
    February 2025 update.
    Progress has been made to reduce incidents of ASB etc. The Main entrance has now been repaired so only legitimate entrance is allowed. Security still remains on site and one of the problem tenants has moved out.
    NHT and housing provider continue to monitor the location to help reassure residents.
    We are pleased to report that the issues at the Apna Ghar have greatly reduced. Security have now withdrawn and the housing provider is continuing to manage any low level incidents. This issue has now been resolved, with residents more reassured and happier with their day to day life.
    April 2025 update - Issues still remain improved, with reduced patrols and residents happier with the overall situation.
    May 2025 Update - Site access remains secure and incidents of ASB has reduced to a minimum. Residents are very happy with the improvements and feel everything is almost back to normal. We are viewing this as a successful resolution to a community priority.

    Anti Social Behaviour is causing concern in Dora Street, Pleck. Local youths are involved in ASB that is affecting residents in Dora Street and neighbouring streets.

    Action taken:

    Concerns have been raised through local Police Surgery by residents. Pleck NHT are carrying out regular patrols, visiting affected residents and those believed to be involved in the ASB. Joint work with Police and Walsall council will be carried out to stem the ASB and to see what long-term measures can be put in place.
