    We are committed to tackling violence and the exploitation of vulnerable women on the streets of the Handsworth and Lozells area.
    We know that the Soho Road and surrounding areas are hotspots for prostitution. Our neighbourhood policing teams are intensifying our enforcement of this activity. We are working with multiple partners internally and externally to identify and safeguard vulnerable people.
    We will also operate a zero tolerance approach to those exploiting and utilising illegal services around the Handsworth and Lozells area.

    Action taken:

    The Lozells and East Handsworth NHT have been working with partners to intervene with illegal prostitution and we have been identifying vulnerable individuals with a view to referring them into safeguarding plans.

    June Update:

    PC Brookman and Pc Manns have delivered several Violence against Women and Girls inputs in secondary schools.
    Several patrols conducted with Turnaround, Women’s Refuge and Umbrella Outreach ( supported by NHS ) engaging and supporting vulnerable individuals on the Soho Road.

    * Intelligence Led Proactive hot spot patrols around areas of incidents
    *Crime prevention initiative with local residents and businesses
    *Working with other police departments to drive down levels of crime and bring offenders to justice

  • Priority:

    Community Priority - Address long-standing Crime & ASB issues and to prioritise quality of life for residents of around Lozells and East Handsworth.

    ASB IN Handsworth Park. Vehicles parking in grounds of Handsworth Park by individuals frequenting the Cricket Club. Residents also reporting cars, quads and electric scooter driving dangerously around the park.

    Action taken:

    Use police powers to combat issues reported by local residents
    High visibility patrols – requesting other departments to assist.
    Work with neighbourhood and community groups to tackle matters important to them
    Liaise with Birmingham City Council and partners for a multi-agency approach to problem-solving to address the causes of ASB.

    June Update:

    Currently partnership working with Parks manager (Birmingham City Council) and local councillor. Parks manager is currently looking at options / devices to stop vehicles entering the park. Making sure the park gates are locked. Looking at signage to state no unauthorised vehicles in the park. Officers from the team patrolling the park.
