About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Action taken:

    MAY 2025

We continue to work with partner agencies including homeless charities and drug and alcohol support agencies to assist with tackling the anti social behaviour in this area.

Where possible my team will conduct high visibility patrol in and around the area.

We continue to encourage local residents to report any anti social behaviour and they can do so easily using single online home.

We have recently introduced a new PCSO Courtney Whitehouse to our team and she will over the coming weeks be visible in the area. Please stop and say hi to her.

    JANUARY update

High visibility patrols– requesting other departments to assist including Safer Travel.
A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) has been obtained for the area by Birmingham City Council allowing council operatives and Police to have greater powers to tackle on going ASB issues such as street drinking and aggressive begging.

    MARCH update

Officers conducted a joint traffic operation with Birmingham City Council along Rookery Road where multiple drivers were reported for a variety of offences and several uninsured vehicles were taken off the road.

    Report ASB online:

    MARCH update

Officers conducted a joint traffic operation with Birmingham City Council along Rookery Road where multiple drivers were reported for a variety of offences and several uninsured vehicles were taken off the road.

Officers on routine patrols have also located and recovered a number of stolen vehicles, reuniting them with their owners whilst also gather intelligence to support on going investigations into recent vehicle thefts.

    Report vehicle offences online:

High Visibility Patrols. Targeting hot spot areas with Proactive Operations.

    Actioned 04 May 2025

  • Priority:

Retail theft from various shops across Handsworth

    Issued 04 May 2025

    Action taken:

    UPDATE MAY 2025

We continue to work closely with local businesses and licensing officers from Birmingham City Council to disrupt and bring persistent shop lifting offenders to justice.

We have recently utilised our community protection warnings and notices to deter repeat offenders.

Myself and the team will be seeking support from O2R (Offending to recovery) which is an initiative funded by the local authority, businesses and the Police and Crime Commissioner. The team includes the specially trained police and staff from drug and alcohol services. The idea is to support people to tackle their addiction to prevent them from committing crime.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    MARCH update

The team arrested a known shoplifter who was responsible for a spate of offences across Handsworth Wood and the wider Birmingham area. The male was subsequently charged with a total of 11 offences and remanded from court.
