About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

    Local business’s in the Merry Hill Centre, Brierley Hill High Street and Wordsley have told us that they are concerned with the level of shop theft.

    Although we have seen an increase in positive results and action. Thefts from shops will still remain a priority especially coming to the holiday period of Christmas.

    Action taken:

    To tackle retail crime, we have made several arrests and conducted several out of court disposals on known suspects. Officers have carried out regular patrols in the centre and have created a strong relationship with the Merry Hill Centre security staff and other partners around Brierley Hill and Wordsley.

    Local action team are perusing and making all efforts to arrest and prosecute high harm offenders.

    Businesses and shoppers have told us that they are concerned about shoplifting and business crime in Brierley Hill and Wordsley area

    Action taken:

    We are continuing to work alongside our partners and local business around Brierley Hill to deter shoplifting offences. This includes close partnership work with security staff and shop workers, targeted patrols by our local officers and crime reduction advice and support.

    Local action team are actively perusing and arresting repeat offenders and pushing for prosecutions.

    Local residents have told us about issues related to anti-social behaviour and off road bikes.

    Action taken:

    PSCOS have been and will continue to conduct speedwatch operations across the local area in order to tackle speeding and improve road safety.

    There has been regular patrolling in the area to where the bulk of the reports are emerging. the local police is looking to implement the problem solving plan approach to this problem and work with partner agencies including council to carry out operations.

    Local residents have raised concerns about cars causing ASB on the multi-story carpark of the Merry Hill Centre and Waterfront, which includes speeding.

    Action taken:

    PCSOS have been patrolling the area more frequently in an effort to identify offenders and deter crime.

    The efforts are on going and the team is monitoring new reports and taking prompt actions against them.
