Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Rough Sleepers causing anti-social behaviour, leaving drugs paraphernalia and litter, and abusing residents as well as drug dealers visiting people to deliver drugs. Working sometimes as teams and assisting in Theft from Shop and stall offences.

    Issued 18 June 2026

    Action taken:

The team have been working with the Birmingham City Council is re-installing CCTV within the Village. After consultation and presentation of evidence the Council have agreed to 5 cameras to be installed. Four of these are likely to be completed in the Summer with the further one planned for next year. This will enable the local Policing Team to view evidence of drug use which will provide evidence for Community Protection Warnings and notices giving the Police the Power of Arrest.

The team have also been contacting local businesses to provide CCTV of drug users and beggars causing Anti-Social Behaviour. This will provide further evidence in the application of Community Protection Warnings/Notices.

Officers continue to patrol the area when and where available, and will utilise stop and search powers when circumstances allow.

If you want to inform the Police anonymously of crime information regarding your community please consider using Crime Stoppers.

Please note if needles are noted discarded on the street please contact the local Council to have these removed from the location ( 0121 303 1112, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm). Please note this is for public spaces not private areas. You can also utilise the Fix My Street website/App to report matters of this nature.

  • Priority:

Police and residents has noted a number of users of nitrous oxide who are using the drug within vehicles in the local area. Not only are these activities illegal they both pose a danger to the public through parties driving under the influence, have a negative impact on the environment (littering), and pose a danger to the users themselves. The local Police Neighbourhood Team are looking to address the issues with the help of the public and local partners to make the area a safer and cleaner place.

    Issued 18 June 2026

    Action taken:

We have conducted a recent warrant at Carters in the Village and are looking at building information to target other stores. There is a national piece of work currently being undertaken in this area by the NCA and we look forward to further resources to target this issue.

    Actioned 18 June 2026

  • Priority:

We are sorry to report that there has been an increase in vehicle crime within the local area. This is both theft from motor vehicles and theft of motor vehicles. Theft from motor vehicles offences is when items are taken from vehicles including car cannibalism and number plates. It also includes where items are taken from within the vehicle often when items are left on display which offenders can see. Entry can be from leaving vehicles open or by breaking glass to reach in and take items. There is a national trend with several vehicles which are keyless entry being targeted through relay devices and other systems that can copy car key data resulting in access to the vehicle and vehicle being taken.

There is no trend to the offences as noted statistically and from mapping the offences. However, we would all persons to be observant within their local area and follow crime prevention advice which can be noted within the link below: -

    www.westmidlands.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/keeping-vehicles-safe/

Further crime prevention advice can be ascertained from attending local Community Meetings held by the team.

    Issued 18 June 2026

    Action taken:

The figures this month are slightly lower however this is still a key priority
We have been gathering CCTV and reviewing recent reports to identify key suspects. We are working with internal departments including forensic services to explore all possible avenues
