  • Priority:

    Tackling Anti-social behaviour (ASB)

    Issued 31 October 2026

    Action taken:

The Faringdon Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to proactively tackle anti-social behaviour across Faringdon and the surrounding villages. Over the last three months, the team has recorded more than 180 targeted patrols and 191 community engagements, focusing on areas and issues identified through public reports, local intelligence and community consultation.
We regularly patrol parks, play areas, retail locations and other reported hotspot areas. Where appropriate, we make use of anti-social behaviour powers including Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs), Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) and criminal justice interventions. Our use of ASB powers and interventions has increased significantly over the last 12 months, reflecting our proactive approach to tackling the issues most affecting local communities.
A significant piece of recent problem-solving work was undertaken in Shrivenham following concerns raised by residents regarding youth disorder, anti-social behaviour and alcohol-related nuisance. Working alongside local businesses, licensing officers, transport providers and community partners, we increased patrols, carried out targeted engagement, identified offending patterns and addressed environmental factors contributing to the problem. We identified that much of the disorder was linked to the theft and consumption of alcohol by young people gathering in public spaces. By working with local retailers and partner agencies to address the underlying causes, reports of anti-social behaviour reduced significantly and residents provided positive feedback at subsequent community engagement events.
As a result of the team's wider ASB activity, reports of anti-social behaviour across the area have reduced by 21% compared to the same period previously.
We will continue to focus patrols and engagement activity on locations identified by local communities and work with partner agencies, schools and businesses to address emerging issues at the earliest opportunity.
If anti-social behaviour is affecting your area, please continue to report it. Information provided by residents helps us identify hotspots, target patrols and take appropriate action.

  • Priority:

    Tackling Drug Harm and Exploitation

    Issued 31 October 2026

    Action taken:

The neighbourhood policing team remains committed to disrupting drug-related offending and protecting vulnerable people from exploitation. Since April 2026, the team has secured 15 positive outcomes for drug offences, conducted a significant number of proactive stop searches with 66% resulting in positive finds, and made 17 arrests linked to drug supply investigations. Several of these investigations remain ongoing and continue to progress through the criminal justice process.
We continue to use intelligence provided by the public, partner agencies and our own patrol activity to identify those involved in the supply of drugs and associated criminality. This includes targeted patrols in areas identified as community concerns, proactive stop-search activity where grounds exist, and the use of warrants and enforcement opportunities to disrupt offenders.
Alongside enforcement, we work closely with schools, youth services, housing providers and safeguarding partners to identify and protect people who may be vulnerable to exploitation. Drug-related offending often has a wider impact on communities and can be linked to anti-social behaviour, violence and safeguarding concerns. For that reason, our approach focuses not only on enforcement but also on prevention and early intervention.
Information from local residents remains vital to this work. We encourage anyone with concerns about drug dealing, exploitation, cuckooing or suspicious activity to continue reporting it. Even small pieces of information can help us build intelligence, identify offenders and protect vulnerable people.
Information can be reported via the TVP website or anonymously through Crimestoppers.

  • Priority:

    Road Safety and Speeding

Speeding, dangerous driving, parking around schools and road safety concerns were consistently raised by residents across Faringdon and surrounding villages.

    Issued 31 October 2026

    Action taken:

Road safety and speeding continue to be a concern raised by residents across Faringdon and the surrounding villages. Concerns include excessive speed, dangerous driving, inconsiderate parking and vehicle-related anti-social behaviour, particularly in residential areas and near schools.
The neighbourhood policing team works closely with partners and communities to identify problem locations and gather evidence of speeding concerns. Information provided by residents helps us direct enforcement activity to the areas of greatest concern and supports wider road safety initiatives.
Many concerns raised with the team relate to parking obstructions and highway issues. Whilst these do not always fall within police powers, we work closely with partner agencies to ensure concerns are directed to the most appropriate organisation. Residents can also report a wide range of highway issues, including parking concerns, damaged roads, pavements, street lighting and road signs through www.FixMyStreet.com
The team will continue to review community feedback and intelligence to identify areas of concern and work with partners to improve safety on our roads.
