About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

  • Priority:

ASB - Shoplifting on Twist Way

    Issued 12 October 2026

    Action taken:

Officers have received reports of shoplifting offences on Twist Way, with many incidents believed to involve young people from the local area. The Neighbourhood Team is working closely with local businesses to address these concerns and support retailers affected by crime.

Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) have been providing target-hardening and crime prevention advice to shops to help reduce opportunities for offending and improve security measures. PCSOs are also conducting regular ‘Have Your Say’ events within the community, offering residents and businesses the opportunity to discuss local concerns, receive advice and engage directly with their neighbourhood policing team.

The issues have been raised with the dedicated Shoplifting Team, which has been informed of the ongoing concerns and will continue to monitor reports and support enforcement activity where appropriate.

Officers remain committed to working with businesses and the wider community to tackle shoplifting, prevent repeat offending and keep the local area safe.

  • Priority:

    Youth Violence

    Issued 12 October 2026

    Action taken:

Recent reports of youth-related violence in the area have understandably raised concerns among residents regarding community safety and the potential for antisocial behaviour to escalate. In response, officers are carrying out regular high-visibility patrols and working closely with partner agencies to identify those involved in criminal activity and take appropriate action.

Alongside enforcement activity, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) are regularly attending the local youth club to engage with young people, staff and parents. These visits provide an opportunity to build positive relationships, offer crime prevention advice, address local concerns, and signpost support services where needed.

Officers remain committed to working with the community to improve the local environment, prevent offending, and provide reassurance to residents that concerns are being actively addressed.

  • Priority:

    Cannabis use on Burnham Lane

    Issued 12 October 2026

    Action taken:

Officers received reports of groups of young males congregating behind the shops on Burnham Lane. In response, regular high-visibility patrols were carried out by Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and Police Constables (PCs), resulting in a number of stop searches being conducted.

Through ongoing engagement activity one individual was identified as being primarily responsible for the reported issues. A Community Protection Warning was subsequently issued, and since that intervention, the concerns raised by residents and businesses have ceased.

Officers continue to carry out regular patrols in the area to provide reassurance to local residents and shopkeepers, and to help prevent any recurrence of the behaviour.

    Actioned 12 October 2026
