About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Anti-social behaviour (ASB), and youth related crime and disorder (e.g. youth related ASB, large groups or threatening behaviours)

Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

•We continue working alongside partners and youth organisations, including visiting schools to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.

•Hotspot areas and targeted patrols include areas Landport Park, down into the estate, and up through the Pells area as reported areas of regular ASB, a chance for officers to engage with a number of youngsters.

•Officers in Lewes have planned several events over the summer, where they will update residents on work to tackle ASB. These sessions also give residents the chance to share concerns and highlight problem areas, helping officers focus patrols and ensure police presence where it’s needed most.

    Actioned 01 June 2026

  • Priority:

    Drug Harm Reduction

Targeting drug related crime in your town through intelligence, enforcement and partnership work.

    Issued 01 June 2026

    Action taken:

•Police led operations, targeting known areas of drug use and drug dealing continue, with officers working alongside local authorities to address issues with properties causing drug related ASB in the area.

•Future partnership work around known addresses causing drug harm in your area are taking place in response to recent reports from local residents and following concerns raised to officers at recent community meetings around drug related harm.

    Actioned 01 June 2026
