About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

    Rural Crime

    Supporting rural communities affected by rural crime, including but not limited to; residential burglary, machinery theft, animal or livestock worrying, illegal poaching and criminal damage.

    Action taken:

    •Officers for your wards continue to commit to patrols of the more rural areas across the Lewes district, with officers paying close attention to a number of smaller roads and country roads which are often used by criminals to conduct their activities.

    •Patrols both by foot in the villages, as well as in vehicles including out across the roads network surrounding the villages, aimed at not only offering reassurances to local residents but also to identify and deter those involved in crime in the local area.

    •We continue working with both partners and the Sussex Rural Crime Team to serve our rural communities, supporting local initiatives to help safeguard our rural communities crime crime.

  • Priority:

    Anti-social driving (e.g. speeding, nuisance or noisy vehicles, cycles or e-scooters on the pavement)

    Responding to and addressing community concerns around road and driving related offences that fall into the fatal 5 driving offences.

    Action taken:

    •Increased visible foot and vehicle patrols in areas of reported excess speeding, and ASB driving in an attempt to deter and identify those involved will continue into the Summer months.

    •We are also continuing to partner with local CSW (community speed watch) groups in the area to plan days of action along roads reported by residents as problem areas.
