About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Retail Crime is a National Priority, and has an impact on businesses as well as consumers. Surrey Police has been working closely with businesses that have been targeted, to ensure that all staff feel supported as they are often victims of abuse and violence. Officers have been working with neighbouring forces to identify and investigate repeat offenders.

    Issued 05 August 2026

    Action taken:

Our PCSOs have been holding regular engagement stands outside hotspot retail crime locations, to increase visibility and offer support to retail workers. They have been providing crime prevention advice to those with any concerns surrounding retail crime in Guildford Town Centre. Our team has been conducting regular patrols of the town to increase visibility in hotspot locations.

    Actioned 05 August 2026

  • Priority:

Reducing Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) is a National Priority. Surrey Police is committed to making Guildford a safer place for women and girls, especially in the Town Centre.

    Issued 05 August 2026

    Action taken:

Our team has been increasing patrols within the town centre during times when VAWG related crimes have been reported to increase visibility. Foot patrols have increased on Friday and Saturday evenings, especially between 2100 and 2300. Officers have been working closely with the Street Angels and monitoring licenced premises to ensure they are monitoring levels of intoxication and adhering to their licencing conditions. Officers have run dedicated Ops to identify and interrupt offending.

    Actioned 05 August 2026

  • Priority:

Surrey Police are seeing an increase in reports of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), especially in the Town Centre on a Sunday afternoon, involving groups of young people. Over the summer period, this has extended to include Stoke Park and the Lido.

    Issued 05 August 2026

    Action taken:

Officers and PCSOs have been conducting daily patrols in the hotspot locations where there has been an increase in reports of ASB. PCSOs held an engagement event in Stoke Park to increase visibility and offer crime prevention advice, which will continue throughout September. Officers have been working with local agencies to offer youth crime prevention advice and have increased patrols during times youth ASB is being reported.

    Actioned 05 August 2026
