About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

    Burglary and vehicle crime is an ongoing priority. This has mainly taken place overnight with insecure vehicles and homes being targeted.

    Action taken:

    We have worked alongside our forensics and criminal investigation department (CID) colleagues, which has resulted in a number of key arrests and charges being brought against several suspects. This type of offence has seen a decrease more recently, however local officers continue to be vigilant and investigate all reports of suspicious activity. This work remains ongoing.
    Update 16th July - in the last 3 months we have seen a decrease in Burglaries in this area by 85%, 100% decrease in theft of motor vehicle and a 60% decrease in theft from motor vehicle. Officers will continue to monitor and tackle any reported incidents
    Update 3rd September - reported burglaries and vehicle crime remain extremely low in the locality which positively reflects the action taken in recent months. Officers remain vigilant to any reported activity in the area and continue to follow up all reported suspicious activity.

    Suspicious activity Werrington area

    Action taken:

    We are aware of recent reports concerning individuals behaving suspiciously during night time hours in the Werrington area. Local police are actively monitoring these incidents, conducting scene investigations, and reviewing available CCTV footage to identify any offences and potential suspects. Our officers continue to patrol the area during reported times to enhance community safety and support ongoing inquiries.
    We encourage residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity. Your cooperation is vital in helping us address these concerns and maintain a safe environment for everyone. If you notice anything unusual, please contact us, so we can follow up and take appropriate action.
    Together, we can help keep Werrington safe.

    Concerns have been raised around youth-related anti-social behaviour in and around the Werrington area.

    Action taken:

    The local policing team will monitor incoming calls and intelligence and patrols to be increased in the area during peak times. Early Intervention and prevention unit to visit the location and assess for opportunities to design out issues and assist with problem solving, particularly around the pump track area. We will continue joint working with the council ASB officer.
