About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Concerns raised for e-bikes and scooters riding through the town.

    Action taken:

    We are conducting targeted patrols with support from our Road Crime Team to address this. Further areas identified to continue with our road crime teams and react to intelligence.

    We've had several complaints from the community about bikes and e-scooters being ridden through the town centre and on the pavements of surrounding streets

    Action taken:

    Several targeted operations with local teams, community safety partnership and road crime. The town centre Sergeant will continue to plan more for the coming months.

  • Priority:

    Antisocial behaviour in the town with youths getting on the roofs and causing issues, especially around McDonalds and Boots on Greengate Street.

    Action taken:

    Local officers to secure CCTV and identify those involved so we can work with parents and other partners to prevent any further offences. Several meetings have taken place in the town with businesses and patrols have been conducted both uniform and plain clothes.

    We have had a number of complaints about street drinking and the use of illegal drugs within the town centre.

    Action taken:

    We have a Public spaces Protection Order in place that allows Officers and PCSOs to deal with those that are causing a nuisance through drinking alcohol in public places. Those identified as causing anti-social behaviour (ASB) linked to alcohol and drugs have been issued with Community Protection notices that put conditions on them while in the town centre.
