About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Community cohesion and neighbour relations. We understand that residents don’t get to choose their neighbours, and at times, clashes in lifestyle, habits or values can lead to tension and disputes.

    Issued 02 September 2025

    Action taken:

Our PCSOs are active and visible in the community, working closely with key partners including the local authority’s anti-social behaviour (ASB) teams, housing associations, and voluntary organisations such as Harmony and Unite Staffordshire Against Hate. Where appropriate, we support early intervention and mediation as a way to de-escalate conflict and help neighbours reach practical, long-term resolutions. However, when behaviour escalates beyond civil disputes and into criminal or persistent anti-social activity, we are firm in our approach. We use civil enforcement tools including Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) and Community Protection Notices (CPNs), and support housing partners in taking action where tenancy agreements are being breached. We are also committed to participating in ASB Case Review Panels, ensuring that all agencies involved share information and insight to fully understand complex situations and find the most effective solutions.

    Actioned 30 September 2025

  • Priority:

Retail Crime on Springfield Retail Park

    Issued 03 December 2025

    Action taken:

Our neighbourhood policing team is actively targeting high-impact, repeat offenders, working closely with investigative teams to ensure appropriate enforcement action is taken. We continue to work in partnership with local businesses to explore preventative measures whether through improved security, staff training, or reporting processes to help deter further offences. A visible police presence remains a key part of our approach. Our officers and PCSOs will continue to patrol key retail areas to reassure the public and deter would-be offenders. By combining enforcement with prevention and visibility, we are committed to reducing retail crime and supporting a safe and thriving shopping environment.

    Actioned 31 December 2025

  • Priority:

    Speeding Traffic

    Issued 03 December 2025

    Action taken:

On the issue of speeding, our road crime team has maintained a strong presence in hotspot locations particularly along the A34 where enforcement action is taken when necessary. Section 59 warnings have also been issued to those engaging in anti-social driving behaviour, helping to deter repeat offences and encourage responsible use of the roads. This remains an ongoing priority, and we will continue to combine education, enforcement, and community engagement to address these concerns throughout the coming months.

    Actioned 31 December 2025

  • Priority:

    Community Cohesion and Neighbour Issues

    Issued 10 March 2026

    Action taken:

Our PCSOs are active and visible in the community, working closely with key partners including the local authority’s anti-social behaviour (ASB) teams, housing associations, and voluntary organisations such as Harmony and Unite Staffordshire Against Hate. Where appropriate, we support early intervention and mediation as a way to de-escalate conflict and help neighbours reach practical, long-term resolutions. Actioned 31 March 2026

  • Priority:

Anti-social vehicle use and parking issues

    Issued 10 March 2026

    Action taken:

We are working closely with our Roads Policing Team to provide a high-visibility presence in affected areas, particularly at times when this behaviour is most prevalent. Enforcement action will be taken where necessary to deter and disrupt dangerous or anti-social driving. Alongside enforcement, we are engaging with local businesses and landowners to help "design out" opportunities for such gatherings—supporting the introduction of measures to better secure car parks and open spaces that are commonly used for car meets. This issue will remain a priority in the months ahead, and we are committed to working in partnership with the community and relevant agencies to reduce this behaviour and improve the quality of life for residents. For any parking related issues, these should be reported to Stoke on Trent City Council direct.
