About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Vehicle crime, relating to theft of motorbikes as well as cars.

    Issued 31 August 2025

    Action taken:

We have worked alongside our forensics and CID colleagues to make a number of arrests, with a number of charges being brought against several suspects.
This type of offence has seen a decrease more recently, however local officers continue to monitor and investigate any reported offences in order to bring offenders to justice. This work remains ongoing.

Update 26th September - we have had an 62% reduction in vehicle crime in the locality.

We have had two reports of vehicle crime in December relating to items being stolen from inside the vehicle. Officers have carried out scene enquiries as part of their investigation.

    Actioned 31 January 2026

  • Priority:

Increase in reported incidents of anti-social behaviour and drug-related activity in Cheadle town centre, with particular concern around the Hurst Street area.

    Issued 22 May 2026

    Action taken:

Officers are intensifying their presence and taking proactive measures to address these issues and ensure the safety and well-being of the community. Enforcement actions have already been taken, including the issuance of Community Protection Warnings, Community Protection Notices, and Criminal Behaviour Orders to individuals found responsible. We remain committed to working closely with local partners and the public to tackle these challenges and maintain a safe environment for everyone.

    Actioned 22 July 2026

  • Priority:

    Violent crime

    Issued 06 February 2026

    Action taken:

Our officers are taking decisive action to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. This includes making arrests and working collaboratively with local housing providers to address criminal behaviour through the enforcement of tenancy agreements. Our ongoing efforts are focused on reducing crime, supporting residents, and fostering a safer environment for everyone. We encourage all members of the community to remain vigilant and to report any concerns or suspicious activity.

    Actioned 01 May 2026

  • Priority:

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) including drug use, vandalism and street drinking.

    Issued 31 October 2025

    Action taken:

Officers continue to carry out weekly patrols on foot in Cheadle Town. This high visibility has been positively received by the local community and has reduced reported incidents.

We have had reports of ASB with children getting onto the roofs of the Banking Hub and Bargain Booze. Officers have identified those involved and are working with families on a resolution.

We have recently had a number of reports relating to a public order incident in Cheadle town centre. The suspect for this was identified and charged with a number of offences and remanded to prison.

    Actioned 31 January 2026
