About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Large numbers of vehicles parking on this road prevent the flow of traffic and cause access issues. This has previously been raised, albeit not as a PACT priority. Actions included below are from what has previously been done.

    Issued 04 June 2026

    Action taken:

Officers have previously attended this area during events and issued multiple warning letters about obstructive parking. 2 vehicles were seized for being driven without insurance and over 25 vehicles were given parking tickets for obstructing the pathway

    Actioned 04 June 2026

  • Priority:

Off-road bikes, electric bikes and vehicles driving in an antisocial manner in and around High Street, Barnsley Road and Doncaster Road, Goldthorpe and several streets and areas within Bolton Upon dearne.

    Issued 04 June 2026

    Action taken:

We continue to work alongside BMBC and our MaRCT to seize vehicles being driven in such a manner. Last month, 6 vehicles were seized. We have enagaged with schools and the local media and will continue to splan operations to target this behaviour.

    Actioned 04 June 2026

  • Priority:

Reports have been made at several PACT meetings over vehicle use in and around the area of the Willow Estate, Thurnscoe. It is a priority area for Barnsley District for ORB use and also is linked to an increase in theft of 125cc motorbikes in Barnsley.

    Issued 04 June 2026

    Action taken:

We continue to work alongside BMBC and our MaRCT to seize vehicles being driven in such a manner. Last month, 6 vehicles were seized. We have enagaged with schools and the local media and will continue to plan operations to target this behaviour. We have also targeted all 125cc bikes, stopping and advising riders and ensuring target hardening where possible. 2 males were recently arrested for theft who we strongly suspect are involved in this type of activity.

    Actioned 04 June 2026
