About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    We’ve identified a property linked to off-road bike issues and are liaising with Merthyr Housing regarding the tenant. A visit is planned to speak with the resident, establish who the rider is, and consider issuing a Section 59 warning.

    Road Safety & Speeding - Golwg yr Afon

    Issued 17 June 2025

    Action taken:

    Regular GoSafe mobile speed patrols are now operating on this road, with a number of speeding offences already dealt with. We’re awaiting this month’s figures to see if the numbers have gone down.

    In addition, the local authority has installed speed bumps along this stretch of road since the last PACT Meeting. Priority Finalised.

    Drug Dealing - Aberfan

    Action taken:

    Further intelligence has been gathered regarding an address in the area, which is being considered for a warrant.

    In addition, another hotspot highlighted at the last PACT Meeting - The Grove car park, is now receiving regular patrols following reports of drug dealing. These patrols have already led to the arrest of a drink driver who failed a roadside breath test.
