About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

Ashfield Neighbourhood Policing Team Policing Priorities: October - December 2026

    Our Local Priorities

For the period October - December 2026, the Hucknall Neighbourhood Policing Team will focus on the following priorities:
    1. Knife crime and violence
    2. Drug dealing and associated Anti‑Social Behaviour (ASB)
    3. Dangerous use of electric or illegal vehicles.

    How Our Priorities Are Chosen
The priorities for the Ashfield Neighbourhood Policing Team are reviewed every three months at a multi‑agency partnership meeting. This meeting is attended by:
    • Local authority representatives
    • Problem‑solving specialists
    • Neighbourhood policing teams

The review considers a range of information sources, including:
    • Police crime recording and intelligence systems
    • Data provided by the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office
    • Public feedback from the “What Matters” survey, submitted via Notts Alert

This approach ensures that the issues most affecting our communities are identified and addressed. The priorities selected do not detract from our responsibility to deal with other local or force‑wide priorities.

Why These Priorities Have Been Chosen

    1. Knife Crime and Violence
Weapon‑enabled violence has a significant impact on victims and the wider community. Unfortunately, this remains an issue within Ashfield, and it is one that we take extremely seriously.

    2. Drug Dealing and Related ASB
We continue to receive reports of anti‑social behaviour across Ashfield. Investigations show that a proportion of this ASB is linked to drug supply. Drug dealing is known to fuel violent crime and retail crime, directly impacting our other priorities.

    3. Dangerous use of electric or illegal vehicles.
The use of these vehicles commonly called e-bikes or e-scooters is currently a national topic of conversation. During our community events, and conversations with you, it is an issue that is consistently mentioned. Therefore I think it right that we make it one of our priorities for the next 3 months.

    Action taken:

    Knife Crime and Violence
    • Neighbourhood Policing Teams continue to attend schools and community venues to deliver education and prevention inputs, in fact a number of schools are about to graduate from our mini police scheme, well done!
    • We use a multi‑agency approach, working closely with partners to target offenders, prevent reoffending, and safeguard those at risk.
    • We have been granted additional funding for Hucknall and there will be an increase in targeted patrols, with additional resources dedicated to addressing this issue.
    • We are seeing positive results in tackling knife crime, and as such it is important to keep our focus on it for the next 3 months.

    Drug Dealing and Related ASB
    • We have launched Op Nexus, which brings in additional resources to target this issue. There are early positive results.
    • We continue to actively enforce against those involved in illegal drug supply, with multiple warrants already executed and further activity planned.
    • Working closely with our Council and partnership colleagues, we will use all available powers to disrupt offenders and reduce the ASB associated with drug dealing.

Dangerous use of electric or illegal vehicles.
    • We are participating in local and national conversations on tactic and strategy to target this issue, ensuring the most up to date best practice is used.
    • We educate those responsible in schools and at community events.
    • We will intensify our seizures and prosecution of those that use these vehicles in a dangerous manor, targeting those that use the vehicle to commit crime.

How You Can Have Your Voice Heard
Your information and feedback are vital in helping us set priorities and take action:
    • Take part in the Notts Alert “What Matters” survey
    • Report incidents via 999 (emergency) or 101 (non‑emergency)
    • Report online through the Nottinghamshire Police website
    • Provide information anonymously via Crimestoppers
