Policing priorities

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    How priorities are chosen:

The priorities for the Broxtowe NPA is reviewed every 3 months in a Multi-Agency meeting attended by Police, Broxtowe Borough Council, Licensing and Probation.

The meeting looks at the data from crime recording and intelligence systems held by the police, as well as data from the Nottinghamshire Police Crime Commissioners Office and responses to the ‘What Matters’ survey submitted to the police via the Notts Alert system, in order to determine which matters are important to our communities.

The priorities selected do not detract from other priorities either locally or across the force.

Why this priority has been chosen:

This priority has been chosen as one of the local policing priorities for Eastwood South due to calls relating to street dealing in Eastwood, crime data has shown an increase in drug offences over the last three months. Partner feedback has raised concerns drug related crime such as ASB and criminal damage.

How you can have your voice heard:

You can take part in the NottsAlert “What Matters” survey here - Please click here to complete the survey

You can report incidents by calling 999 or 101 as well as via our website. Report | Nottinghamshire Police

You can also provide intelligence anonymously via Crimestoppers

    Issued 24 January 2026

    Action taken:

Over the next three months NPT and Partners will be working together, sharing information enabling positive action on those individuals causing the most harm, carrying out patrols in the area and engagement with members of the public.

Drug Dealing and Anti-Social Behaviour - Eastwood South
Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) officers have been conducting targeted patrols in the area surrounding the footpath off South Street, Eastwood, following reports of drug-related activity.
Through increased visible policing, officers have successfully deterred offending, engaged with local residents to provide reassurance, and offered advice on reporting concerns in relation to drug use and anti-social behaviour.

An investigation is underway after a man sustained facial injuries in a fight outside The Lady Chatterley pub, in Eastwood, following reports of an altercation. A couple of arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

Three Stolen Bikes Recovered Over Bank Holiday
Over the bank holiday weekend, officers recovered three stolen bikes thanks to swift action, following a report from a member of the public regarding one of the vehicles. Our City West NPT colleagues who cover the Broxtowe Country Park area, attended and located three bikes, which were subsequently seized. Although the Country Park does not fall within the Broxtowe NPA, some reports of bike-related anti-social behaviour in the Nuthall area are believed to be linked, with riders travelling to and from the park. Further targeted operations are planned, with NPT working alongside the Off-Road Bike Team and Drone Team to continue tackling this issue and help keep our communities safe.

    ATM Thefts
Felix and Christian Urcaciu have been convicted after using cash-trapping devices to steal money from ATM machines across the UK.
Victims attempting to withdraw cash believed the machines were faulty and, in many cases, contacted their banks for refunds. In reality, the cash had been diverted into a specially constructed metallic wedge device fitted over the dispenser. The offenders would then return later to retrieve the cash. Both men are due to be sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on 26 June.

    Operation Sceptre
NPT officers have been actively involved in the national knife crime week of action. Activity has included:

    · High-visibility patrols
    · Knife sweeps in open spaces
    · Engagement with local schools and shops on knife crime awareness
    · Positive enforcement action for knife-related offences

During patrols, we received positive feedback from members of the public regarding our presence and engagement.

    Open Water Swimming Danger Advice
Police have received reports of people entering the River Trent. Neighbourhood officers attended to speak with those involved and provided safety advice. The area will continue to be monitored. We want to remind everyone of the very real dangers of swimming in open water.

    Drug Dealing and Anti-Social Behaviour

    Eastwood South

    Police Operations
A drug warrant was executed at an address in Newthorpe. Although no controlled drugs were located on this occasion, officers took time to speak with local residents to provide reassurance and offer advice around reporting drug-related concerns and anti-social behaviour. We remain committed to acting on intelligence provided by the community.

    Joint Partnership Operation
Your local NPT has supported Immigration Enforcement, the National Crime Agency, and East Midlands Special Operations in a joint operation across Nottinghamshire.
During checks at a car wash in Nuthall, an illegal worker was detained, and a civil penalty notice was issued to the employer. Illegal working is often linked to organised crime and the exploitation of vulnerable people, and these joint operations are essential to disrupting such criminal activity and sending a clear message that enforcement action will be taken.

    April
    Priorities:
Drug dealing and ASB, Eastwood South

    Drugs Warrant Executed in Eastwood
Officers executed a drugs warrant on Harvest Road, Eastwood, where cannabis, mobile phones, and cash were seized. The investigation remains ongoing as enquiries continue.

Anti Social Behaviour Continues to Fall
Anti social behaviour (ASB) has reduced by 24.4% year to date. The Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) has been actively patrolling key areas, targeting individuals responsible for repeated ASB, and working closely with partner agencies through multi agency meetings. These combined efforts have contributed significantly to the continued reduction in ASB across the area.

    News:
The Neighbourhood Policing Team has had a busy month supporting football operations, managing protest activity, attending community events, and working closely with local schools. Reassurance patrols were carried out following recent “School Wars” concerns, and reassuringly, no violence incidents were reported in connection with this.

    Robbery Offences Addressed
There has been a recent increase in robbery offences affecting local businesses. Officers have been working closely with these businesses after incidents where individuals stole items and threatened staff. Following a thorough investigation, police identified two juveniles responsible. Both have been arrested and placed on bail with conditions, including not associating with each other and not entering the victims’ premises.

    March

    Drugs Warrants Executed in Eastwood
Police have recently executed two drugs warrants on Manor Road, Eastwood. During one of these warrants, officers recovered a quantity of Class A drugs. A suspect has been interviewed, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Anti Social Behaviour Continues to Fall
Anti-social behaviour (ASB) incidents have reduced by 26.6% year-to-date, which is positive news for the community. Our continued partnership work with Broxtowe Borough Council and local Youth Services has contributed significantly to this reduction, particularly through their effective outreach engagement with young people.

    Action on Problem Tenancies
Police are also working closely with Housing colleagues to take firm action against tenants who allow their properties to be used for crime or ASB. This can include the termination of tenancy agreements and, where necessary, eviction.

    News
We would like to recognise some outstanding work by NPT PC Harry Brown, who made an arrest while off duty. Harry was out shopping with his family when he spotted a prolific shoplifter he knew was wanted by police for several theft offences. Despite having no police equipment with him — including no handcuffs — Harry acted decisively and safely detained the suspect. Harry’s commitment and bravery demonstrate his dedication to keeping our communities safe, both on and off duty. We are extremely proud of his actions. For further details, see the link.
