About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Protect Vulnerable Victims and Victims of Domestic Abuse

    We make use of all possible police tools including community protection notices and closure orders to protect vulnerable people and target offenders. Officers make regular revisits to build trust and protect victims, engaging with other services to target the issues holistically.

    Anti-social behaviour in the area of Chase park

    Action taken:

    Partnership engagement with Gateshead Council, CHUG, Retail shops on the front street identify offenders, consultation with local community groups and high visibility patrols conducted at key times in the park in line with POP Plan. The team makes use of dispersal notices and Community Protection Notices, resulting in reduced reports of anti-social behaviour and increase of community confidence.

    Motorcycle disorder around Sunniside, Kibblesworth, and Staithes in Dunston.

    Action taken:

    Partnership engagement with Gateshead Council visiting offenders, high visibility patrols conducted at key times. Officers make use of the force drone to track offences in progress and we highlight through events all the ways to report motorcycle disorder. This has shown a significant reduction in incidents of anti-social behaviour and disorder.
