About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Anti-social behaviour including motorcycle disorder with Temple Park and Cleadon Hills

    Issued 19 May 2026

    Action taken:

We’re using CCTV, long-lens cameras and drones to identify offenders, while officers issue warnings and seize bikes. We’re also working with partners on tenancy-enforcement where needed. All tactics are carried out by trained staff, and a new Neighbourhood Support Team is being created to strengthen our response to community concerns.

    Actioned 01 July 2026

  • Priority:

    Motorcycle-related disorder

    Issued 19 May 2026

    Action taken:

Operation Capio is our force's response to motorcycle disorder. Hotspot areas are identified through public and partner agency meetings, making sure we are responding to the problem, areas you have flagged to us. We continue to seize vehicles involved in motorcycle disorder and we are actively working with partners to undertake tenancy action against those causing disorder. Our operations have included use of drones, plain clothes officers and a multi-agency approach including South Tyneside Council staff. We have reviewed our resourcing to tackle these issues and have set up a new neighbourhood support team, who will support with reducing motorcycle disorder.
