About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    We have increased patrols in the area and are using a problem-solving approach to understand the underlying causes of the issues. We are working closely with partner agencies to deliver a joint response and develop a long-term, sustainable solution.

    Active patrols in hotspot areas as well as making use of drone technology to assist in identifying and prosecuting offenders.

    Sale of illegal cigarettes and vapes in the West End of Newcastle. The associated premises are a cause of anti-social behaviour and related crime and pose a public health risk to the communities across the West End.

    Action taken:

    EPIC West team along with the neighbourhood team are increasing patrols in in the problem areas. They are also focusing on a problem solving approach around individuals and locations which have been identified as hot spot areas. Where appropriate they are working with partners to tackle the problems to bring about a long term sustainable solution.
