About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Retail and business Crime

    Issued 16 June 2026

    Action taken:

We are working closely with Bedlington businesses and partner agencies to reduce crime impacting our retailers and commercial areas. By sharing intelligence and identifying repeat offenders, we’re able to take a targeted, problem-solving approach that reduces harm and disruption.
Our work includes using enforcement options such as Criminal Behaviour Orders, while also looking at longer term interventions that address the root causes of offending. Our overall aim is to safeguard local businesses, build public confidence, and ensure Bedlington remains a safe and welcoming place to shop and work.

    Actioned 30 September 2026

  • Priority:

Tackling anti-social behaviour: nuisance and motorcycle disorder

    Issued 16 June 2026

    Action taken:

We are directing our resources towards hotspot locations identified through police reports and community intelligence. Through increased high visibility patrols, joint work with partner agencies, and targeted problem solving activity, we aim to reduce disruption and improve the quality of life for local residents. This includes coordinated responses such as tenancy-related enforcement visits carried out alongside housing teams.

    Actioned 31 August 2026
