Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

We have seen a rise in anti social behaviour in the Colburn/Catterick area over the last couple of months, which has included a concerning door kicking trend.

We have received reports of antisocial behaviour within the Baden Powell area of Catterick Garrison.

We are also receiving reports from residents regarding antisocial behaviour involving off-road motorbikes.

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

The NPT along with response teams, specialist operations and the roads policing group have been supporting with proactive visible patrols, challenging youths and using police dispersal powers when appropriate. Off road bikes have been seized when driven illegally in order to create a safe space for residents to live.
We ask that any reports of anti social behaviour are reported to the police on 101 or in an emergency 999. We are working with the community safety hub and can use powers such as cease and desist letters, introduce anti social behaviour contracts to youths acting anti socially, and use Criminal Behaviour Orders issued by the Courts where appropriate. After reports of the recent door kicking trend in the local area, Catterick NPT have identified over a dozen youths and dealt with them appropriately for these issues which has included engagement within schools, Acceptable Behaviour Contracts and other appropriate resolutions.
Prior to the May half term holidays, three intervention sessions were delivered at Risedale School both from North Yorkshire Police and partner agencies. New referrals have also been created. Two involved youths have been interviewed as part of the recent antisocial behaviour which has included outcomes such as Violence Awareness Courses and Crime & Consequences sessions.
We continue to work with our partner agencies to address this and have actively held meetings with landowners regarding use of the land where off-road bikes have been reported. We have also planned in back to school engagements for September 2026.

    Actioned 10 July 2026

  • Priority:

Retail Crime is a national issue, in Catterick we have several Retail areas that include small convenience stores. The Catterick Neighbourhood Policing Team aim to be proactive in reducing Retail Crime and this is a priority we have carried over in to the 2026 year.

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

1- Neighbourhood Officers are engaging with stores and small businesses to encourage sign ups to NICE Investigate - NICE Investigate is a new system that allows the direct upload and sharing of incidents recorded by CCTV or other sources of media.
2 - Neighbourhood Officers regularly engage with Retail staff through a shop watch scheme and regular patrols.
3- Catterick Neighbourhoods are supporting the use of banning letters by local retailers where appropriate.
4- Catterick Neighbourhood Policing Team supported the NYCC Community Safety Hub with their day of action in Princes Gate, Catterick Garrison,to engage with local retailers and offer additional support where needed.
We have positively identified vehicles involved in recent thefts from Princes Gate and are pursuing this as a line of enquiry .
We have also recently identified an offender who has been involved in three separate shop thefts in the shopping park at Catterick Garrison and have resolved this investigation with a positive outcome as of the end of May.
We are proactively working with partner agencies to deliver events for the community in retail spaces in the coming months. Please visit the 'events' section of our website for more details.

    Actioned 12 July 2026

  • Priority:

Catterick area has received reports of commercial burglaries within the local area over recent months which is a trend that the Neighbourhood Policing Team are monitoring closely.
Richmondshire area as a whole has received further reports of burglaries from residential premises over the last few weeks.
More recently, in Colburn, the Neighbourhood Policing Team have noticed a trend in empty properties being targeted.

    Issued 06 July 2026

    Action taken:

The local team, along with our response colleagues and specialist operations will conduct high visibility patrols in hotspot areas, targeting criminals and disrupting them at every opportunity
Throughout winter darker nights, we also conducted burglary prevention drop-in events where we offered crime prevention and home security advice to the public.
Should you have been unable to attend an event and would like a visit from the local team please email [email protected]
We can arrange a separate visit to offer some crime prevention advice
At the start of June, we have been in touch with local housing agencies and have conducted proactive visits at local empty properties to reduce the risk of these properties being targeted.
In recent weeks, we have made arrests in relation to burglaries within the local area and will continue to pursue all lines of enquiry available to us.
Even though summer demand continues, we are looking ahead to the upcoming Autumn/ Winter season and as of 12th July 2026 we have planned four drop-in events around the Catterick area for local residents in anticipation of darker nights approaching, where they can come and receive crime prevention advice. Please visit the 'events' section of our website for more information.
