About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    We work with the community and local partners, while also looking at our own data, to come up with priorities for South Yarmouth for the next three months. These are currently
    Tackling anti-social behaviour - focusing on alcohol/drug concerns and vehicle misuse.

    Action taken:

    We’ve increased targeted patrols in hotspot areas highlighted by the community.

    We’ve also worked with drug dogs to carry out targeted stop searches and safeguarding checks. The searches have led to drug seizures, one arrest for possession with intent to supply, local intelligence gathering, and increased public reassurance.

    A joint operation with trading standards was done on the 22nd April to address illicit cigarette and tobacco products being sold on Kings Street, with 59,000 illegal cigarettes being seized.

    Patrols of stairwells have been done in the area following reports of drug use and, with help from caretakers, four youths were identified and sanctioned by housing.

    Officers have liaised with GYBC Assets team to collate a schedule of stairwell door upgrades and prioritise problem areas, which in addition to installation of CCTV and ASB floor signage, will help to increase security and awareness of our actions.

    Undertaken daily patrols in town centre with council staff.

    Two men issued with 'Acceptable Behaviour Contracts'.

    One man imprisoned for breaching his 'Antisocial Behaviour Injunction' in the town centre.

    One man arrested for breaching his 'Criminal Behaviour Notice'.

    Two E-scooters seized from the town centre.

    One man arrested for breaching his 'Criminal Behaviour Order' and sent to prison.

    Four positive stop searches conducted in town centre.

    14 shoplifters dealt with and banned from stores in the town centre.

    16 Public Spaces Protection Order breaches and individuals reported for drinking from open cans of alcohol in the town centre.

    Joint networking with partners to reduce illegal parking in King Street.

    Action taken:

    A man has been reported for breaching his ASBI in the Town Centre, on the day of his prison release, and another man was issued a community resolution for criminal damage to a door.
    Further visits to licence premises in the Town Centre and King Street have been conducted.
    Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Warrant at a premises in Town resulted in three arrests; 1 person for breaching their CBO and 2 people for robbery
    A man was charged and remanded for theft from several shops in and around the town centre.
    Daily patrols of King Street, Regent Road, and St Georges Park. Intelligence has been obtained and will be monitored.
    We’ve assisted parking enforcement in tackling problem parking on King Street, with officers issuing parking fines.
    Pop up surgeries to come and meet us in person held at the Place and Greyfriars, allowing members of the public to meaningfully engage about any local issues.
    Vulnerable persons given help and support with the help of partner agencies.
