About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Stamford Hill West Ward has a large Ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, and hate crime, particularly anti-Semitic hate crime and related violence, can have a significant impact on victims and community confidence. Such incidents can cause fear, distress, and have a wider effect on community cohesion. The Neighbourhood Policing Team is committed to reducing hate crime, supporting those affected, and working closely with community representatives and partner agencies to ensure all communities feel safe, protected, and confident in reporting incidents.

    Issued 23 July 2026

    Action taken:

SNT officers will conduct high-visibility reassurance patrols in key locations across Stamford Hill West Ward to deter hate crime and provide a visible policing presence. Officers will engage with community members, faith groups, schools, businesses, and partner agencies to encourage reporting, build community confidence, and increase awareness of available support services.
The ward team will undertake targeted patrols based on intelligence and reported incidents, whilst developing information to identify offenders and emerging trends. Crime prevention advice, community engagement events, and reassurance measures will be delivered to help reduce offending and encourage the reporting of hate crime.
Officers will maintain close engagement with the local Ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, working in partnership with Shomrim, the Community Protection Team (CPT), and other partner organisations to identify concerns, share information, and strengthen community confidence. Positive action will be taken against those responsible for hate crime offences, with a focus on safeguarding victims, preventing repeat incidents, and reducing hate crime-related violence across the ward.

    Actioned 23 October 2026

  • Priority:

Although Stamford Hill West Ward records low levels of reported Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), this remains a pan-London policing priority. SNT officers are committed to supporting the Metropolitan Police's approach to tackling violence against women and girls, improving victim confidence, and ensuring safeguarding opportunities are identified. Through engagement, intelligence gathering, and proactive policing activity, officers will work with partners and the local community to identify risks, support victims, and prevent offending.

    Issued 23 July 2026

    Action taken:

SNT officers will continue to conduct thorough research, intelligence development, and targeted patrols across Stamford Hill West Ward to identify vulnerability, safeguard those at risk, and deter offending. SNT will also conduct high-visibility patrols, Walk, Talk and do events, and Community Contact sessions at various locations to encourage local residents to report concerns to the Police and partner agencies. Officers will continue to engage with residents, local businesses, community groups, and partner agencies to promote reporting and increase awareness of available support services.
The ward team will work closely with the Hackney VAWG Outreach Coordinator and other partner agencies to support a multi-agency response to violence against women and girls. Information and intelligence relating to VAWG offences and perpetrators will be actively developed, with positive action taken where offences are identified. The ward team will support victims, pursue offenders, and contribute to wider Met-led initiatives aimed at reducing violence against women and girls and increasing public confidence.

    Actioned 23 October 2026

  • Priority:

Drug related anti-social behaviour continues to have a detrimental impact on residents living within the Guinness Trust Estate in Stamford Hill Ward. Concerns include groups congregating in and around vehicles, playing loud music, causing nuisance and disturbance, intimidating residents, street drinking, and the misuse of nitrous oxide ("laughing gas"), evidenced by the build up of rubbish left. These behaviours adversely affect the quality of life of local residents and contribute to wider anti-social behaviour concerns. A proactive policing approach, supported by partner agencies, will be used to deter offending, identify those responsible, and improve community confidence.

    Issued 23 July 2026

    Action taken:

Conduct high-visibility patrols focused on the car park within the Guinness Trust Estate to deter drug-related ASB, gather intelligence, and identify offenders. Carry out intelligence-led stop and search activity where lawful grounds exist, engage with residents and partner agencies, undertake targeted patrols in hotspot locations, and conduct joint patrols with the Guinness Trust Housing Officer to address local concerns and provide reassurance to residents.
Use appropriate ASB interventions, including Anti-Social Behaviour Warnings, Community Protection Warnings (CPWs), Community Protection Notices (CPNs), Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs), and Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs). Develop intelligence and investigations to identify offenders involved in drug use, street drinking, nitrous oxide misuse, and associated ASB, and pursue proactive enforcement through prosecutions where evidential thresholds are met.
