About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

The current neighbourhood priorities focus on tackling increasing levels of theft and youth anti-social behaviour at Croft Retail Park, alongside addressing concerns around illegal motorcycle use and speeding vehicles on New Ferry Road.
Reports from retail security staff, local businesses and members of the public indicate that shop theft and disorder involving young people are having a negative impact on the area. Residents have also expressed concerns regarding riders using motorcycles illegally and dangerously, including mounting pavements to avoid traffic, creating both a nuisance and a significant risk to pedestrians and other road users.
Excessive vehicle speeds have also been highlighted as an ongoing issue, affecting community confidence and perceptions of safety within the area.

    Issued 03 September 2026

    Action taken:

Neighbourhood officers are conducting increased high-visibility patrols in and around Croft Retail Park, particularly during key times when anti-social behaviour and theft are most prevalent, to deter offending, reassure businesses and the public, and identify those responsible.
Officers are also working closely with retail staff and security personnel to support crime prevention measures and improve opportunities to detect offenders.
In response to concerns on New Ferry Road, officers are maintaining a visible policing presence and carrying out proactive enforcement activity, including the use of speed detection equipment to tackle speeding vehicles and targeting the illegal use of motorcycles to improve road safety and reduce nuisance within the community.
