About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Community feedback has raised the following key concerns:
Groups of young people engaging in intimidating and nuisance behaviour, with some incidents of sporadic violence.
A rise in retail theft impacting local businesses, including repeat offenders and organised shoplifting activity.
Alcohol‑related disorder, littering, and disruptive behaviour associated with public drinking in open spaces and transport hubs.
Anti‑social cycling, particularly riding on pavements and carrying out unsafe or dangerous manoeuvres.

    Issued 04 June 2026

    Action taken:

Neighbourhood police officers will carry out high‑visibility patrols during peak times and in identified hotspot locations.
Work will be undertaken in partnership with schools, youth services, and early intervention agencies, alongside targeted enforcement action against persistent offenders and the delivery of local police surgeries to support diversion and prevention. Recent authorities for dispersal zones have been utilised and will continually be considered to combat ASB.
An application for a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) has finished the consultation phase and will hopefully be in place before the summer.
Further partnership activity will take place with outreach services, addiction support providers, and the local authority, alongside engagement with licensed premises linked to repeat incidents.
